Louisiana’s Own soldiers has an awesome time performing in the Legion of Mars parade on Saturday. It was a stunning tribute to military and first responders! The weather couldn’t have been better and the crowd was equally receptive. Mardi Gras is in full swing in Louisiana, and we were more than happy to be a part.

Members of the concert band and Prime Time Swing Dawgz jazz combo were all smiles for the last performance of our 2025 Christmas concert tour. Ruston high was a great host and Mr. Moss was equally gracious. It was a great way to cap off our tour! Thanks to everyone who attended in any capacity.

Had two full houses on day 3 of our Christmas tour in Rapides Parish. The students at Tioga Jr. High and Tioga elementary were enthusiastic and the decibel level substantially increased during their frequent rounds of applause.

Our concert band and Prime Time Swing Dawgs Jazz Combo were well received at both Greenacres Middle School and Caddo Middle Magnet. SSG Carrell (former director at Greenacres) met with some of his former students and their current director (Mr. Scott) got the chance to sit in with the combo. Louisiana’s Own former members SGT (ret) Anderson and 1SG (ret) Hicks also came and visited! It was a day of great music and memories.

Day one of our 2025 Christmas is done and what an amazing time we had!! We had great audiences at both Benton Middle School and Elm Grove Middle School, and of course, our musicians did amazing!

Two of our clarinet players went to the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home today to play Christmas music. Even though there were only two soldiers, the vets were so appreciative and eager to listen and share their stories. It was truly an honor and we look forward to going back there soon!

The historic Jackson Barracks was beautiful scenery for Louisiana’s Own performance at Christmas at the Barracks. It was the first time that the barracks was open to the public since pre-Katrina. Local families enjoyed home tours and other performing groups in addition to Louisiana’s Own Prime Time Swing Dawgz Jazz Combo and Concert Band. It was an awesome way to bring in the holiday season

Louisiana’s Own is still on its quest to find musicians to fill our ranks and our most recent stop took us to Southern University and A&M College - Baton Rouge, LA. Our commander traveled with two alum who met with the music department chair and the Southern University Marching Band. We were well received and students seemed interested.

Louisiana’s Own traveled to Belize in September
to celebrate the 44th Belizean Independence. We were joined by a few soldiers from Mississippi’s 41st Army Band. Belize has been a state partner with Louisiana for over 20 years and we were excited to be able maintain that partnership.
