Community Work Services

Community Work Services Welcome to our page, we are excited to share the stories of Community Work Services. www.cwsnewengland.org Mrs.

Community Work Services was founded in 1877 as the Cooperative Society of Visitors Among the Poor of Boston to provide services to the poor of Boston and address the roots of poverty through employment, education, and housing improvements. Our founder, Annie Fields, is said to have been a transitional figure in the development of a professional social-service network. Fields hoped to apply busines

s principles and efficiency to benevolent activities and charity work. For 145 years, CWS has stayed true to the mission set by our Founders while also expanding the scope of our programs and widening the range of the populations and geography we serve.

We applaud Community Work Services for awarding subgrants to several directly affected grassroots organizations leading the movement to end incarceration in Massachusetts. A few of these organizations include the Transformative Prison Project, The Life After Prison, and New Beginnings Reentry Services. Thank you, Community Works Services, for your generous $5,000 donation. Justice 4 Housing is proud to be your partner!
