Rising costs continue to put immense pressure on families, especially single mothers.

In March 2026, Jeremiah Program partnered with the Urban Institute to survey nearly 1,800 single mothers across 43 states.

The findings were striking:

• 97% experienced housing-related hardship
• 85% faced food insecurity
• 64% had to leave a job, turn down work, or make major employment changes due to child care challenges

These findings underscore the systemic barriers that continue to limit economic mobility for families.

This past weekend, the JP Boston community gathered to celebrate its largest graduating class of JP moms to date. This year, four moms earned bachelor’s degrees and seven earned associates degrees (and will be remaining with JP as they pursue their bachelor's degree). Our graduation celebration also honored 17 JP kids who achieved significant educational milestones this year. During the ceremony, one JP child delivered a commencement address to an audience of loved ones, Trustees, donors, and staff to illustrate the advantage that tutoring gave her in getting into a competitive middle school. One of the graduating moms delivered a baccalaureate address during which she reminded us that earning this degree does not represent the ending of a story, but rather one more page.

Please join us in extended the warmest of congratulations to this phenomenal group of JP Boston moms and kids.

Thank you to the Boston Scientific team for volunteering with Jeremiah Program Boston!

Their volunteers spent several hours organizing our storage space, sorting program supplies, and preparing toys and resources for the families we serve. Their hard work created a more organized and functional space that will help us better support JP moms and their children.

We are also grateful to Building Impact for making this volunteer opportunity possible and for helping connect dedicated corporate partners with our mission.

We are deeply grateful to Arbor Biotech for volunteering with JP Boston last week! A team of nine volunteers helped our team prepare for our upcoming graduation celebration and redesigned our children's play space to make it more accessible to children of all ages.

Their hard work and great spirit will have a significant impact on our work with JP families! Thank you, Arbor!

In 2025, JP invested over $97,000 in 529 accounts for JP kids, giving them the foundation for a brighter future.

Yesterday, we hosted our second annual Community Conversation at More than Words bookstore. This event featured a fireside chat between JP's CEO and President, Chastity Lord, JP Boston's Executive Director, Alison Carter Marlow, and Generation Hope's Founder and CEO, Nicole Lynn Lewis. Chastity, Alison, and Nicole discussed the complex challenges that student parents face. We are so grateful for the powerful experience!
