Voter suppression is a tactic used by states and politicians to intimidate voters through policies and false information. By attempting to make voting unnecessarily difficult, we lose hundreds of thousands of eligible votes. With only 35 days left until the presidential election, we must talk about how we can fix voter suppression and encourage more voters to turnoutđź—ł Come join us for our voter suppression discussion this Thursday 10/1 at 7:15 PM!

Did you know that if you want to vote absentee you have to fill out a request form first? Massachusetts mailed out these absentee ballot requests to all active and registered voters about a month ago. If you did not receive one, you can find and print one out on the MA secretary of state’s website. Voting by mail is a convenient and safe way to make sure your vote is counted. While there has been some controversy around the USPS and mailing in ballots over the past few days, voting early is still a reliable option. If you don’t feel comfortable mailing in your ballot, you can drop it off at your city/town hall or in a secure drop-box location. With Emmanuel recently deciding to cancel housing and move to an online model for the semester, this puts students who are registered to vote at school at a disadvantage. While it is too late to update your voter registration status before the September 1st primary, you still have time to request an absentee ballot and send it back. Just make sure you mail your ballot back ASAP to make sure your voice is still being counted✅

🚨Attention all Massachusetts residents🚨
Today, August 12th, is the last day to register to vote before the primary election taking place on September 1st. Primary elections help determine a party’s candidate for the general election that occurs later on. In Massachusetts, one of the biggest races this year is between incumbent Senator Ed Markey and House Representative Joe Kennedy. Depending on your district, you may also have other state and local races on your ballot. If you live on campus and would like to vote in Boston, you can register using Emmanuel’s address, 400 Fenway. If you are not registered yet, click the link in our bio 🗳
