For families experiencing housing instability, affording essentials beyond rent and food can be challenging. We are grateful to partners who understand how meaningful these everyday items can be for families during times when they need additional support.

Happy Momentum Monday! We are just one week out from our art auction!

Today we are highlighting two artists who, though from different places in the world, are coming together to support the same mission.

Una Ursprung is a contemporary painter based in Alsace, France. Her contributing piece to the auction, "A Treasure Hidden Deep in the Woods," is a beautiful meditation on how motherhood has transformed her perception of everyday life. In this piece, the artist explores an emotional moment that conveys memory, quiet, resilience, and a subtle beauty that emerges when looking at a landscape differently.

Una is deeply inspired by Metro Housing's mission and commitment to helping individuals and families obtain stable and secure lives. As similar themes of hope and resilience are present in her work, we are thrilled to have "A Treasure Hidden Deep in the Woods" as part of this auction, along with two other works from Una.

Kamilla Talbot is an artist based in Harpersfield, New York. Inspired by Maine’s rocky coast, she is contributing to the auction her impressionistic and beautiful "Rock Formations, Blue" piece. Commonly inspired by the surrounding nature of the world as well as her own personal garden, Kamilla brings a sense of peace and calmness in depicting the natural world in her pieces. Grateful to support Metro Housing's mission of securing safe and affordable housing, we are thrilled to include this piece in our auction.

Just a little over a week before our auction opens! We= can’t wait for you to see our pieces and the talented artists who are contributing their works. For more information and to stay up to date on when the auction opens, follow this link: https://www.metrohousingboston.org/artauction/

Happy Momentum Monday! Today we're excited to highlight two contributing artists.

Nasrah Nefer is an artist from Germany. Her piece "Springtime," one of several works she's donating to our art auction, is heavily inspired by nature, using abstraction, color, and movement to capture the natural world around us.

When Nasrah isn't in the studio, she loves supporting fellow artists through Lumen Art Gallery and curating exhibitions. A firm believer that art can make a real, positive difference in people's lives, Nasrah is honored to support What Walls Can Hold.

Another artist we're incredibly excited to highlight is Lynette Haggard! Her piece "Stay Here" was inspired by color and the way shapes merge together. Outside the studio, Lynette loves traveling and walking in nature.

Believing deeply that life is fragile, and driven by a passion for contributing to community, Lynette is thrilled to be part of What Walls Can Hold!

Happy Momentum Monday!

Today's artist spotlight is Denver-based Robin Hextrum. Her pieces "Moon Flowers" and "Dahlias in Bloom" were both inspired by local flowers in her own neighborhood, two beautiful contemporary realism paintings she's contributing to the "What Walls Can Hold" Art Auction.

Robin believes strongly in the value of supporting one another, and given how essential housing is, and the current housing crisis, individuals affected need more support than ever.

We're just a few weeks away from our art auction going live! If any of the artworks or artists we've been highlighting have caught your eye, make sure to tune in when everything launches.

Happy Momentum Monday! Today we are highlighting Shantel Miller, a Connecticut-based painter in New Haven. The piece she is donating to our online art auction, “Fire, Water, Land, and Spirit in Her,” revisits an earlier work from 2022, but reimagines the color of the garments and surrounding environment, as the piece works to explore the relationship between the body and the natural world.

Similar to the themes of the natural world within this work, when she’s not painting, Shantel loves to spend time in nature. Other hobbies that fill her time are playing with her pet rabbit Theodore, exploring art museums and cafes, and quality game time with family and friends.

Shantel is excited to contribute to What Walls Can Hold art auction and support the mission of helping individuals flourish in their current situations.

We are getting closer to the start of our auction! Interested in learning more? Visit: https://www.metrohousingboston.org/artauction/

After losing her job and her husband becoming suddenly ill, Karen found herself struggling to make ends meet and worried about being able to keep a stable home for their young daughter.

Thankfully, Karen found crucial support through Metro Housing|Boston when she needed it the most. She received emergency rental assistance through the state-funded Residential Assistance for Families in Transition (RAFT) program, as well as basic necessities from the organization’s privately funded Emergency Assistance Fund (EAF). Together, these resources helped her navigate a difficult period.
