Boston Urban Outreach, a program of City Mission Society of Boston has sent hundreds of volunteers to assist with the Monday lunch at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Groups have come from as far away as California, Canada and Texas. When groups begin their week in Boston it is helpful to be able to send them to the Monday Lunch program so that they can immediately become engaged with people. Chris and the regular volunteers at the Monday lunch are always willing to help and it is very well organized. One of the best parts of this program is that Chris takes the time to talk with the groups, sharing his personal story, but also sharing how the Monday meal program is integrated with the Ecclesia Ministries programs.

May God bless us with discomfort
At easy answers, half truths, and superficial relationships,
So that we may live deep within our hearts.
May God bless us with anger
At injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people,
So that we may work for justice, freedom, and peace.
May God bless us with tears
To shed for those who suffer pain, rejection, hunger, and war,
So that we may reach out our hand to comfort them and to turn their pain to joy.
And may God bless us with enough foolishness
To believe that we can make a difference in the world,
So that we can do what others claim cannot be done.
