Massachusetts Smart Growth Alliance

Massachusetts Smart Growth Alliance Helping Massachusetts become more walkable, affordable, diverse, and prosperous.

The Massachusetts Smart Growth Alliance (MSGA) promotes healthy and diverse communities, protects critical environmental resources and working landscapes, advocates for housing and transportation choices, and supports equitable community development and urban reinvestment. We work to achieve this mission by:

advancing legislation and promoting a favorable regulatory environment,

advocating for s

tate planning, funding and construction decisions in line with the state’s sustainable development principles, and

identifying best practices and helping Massachusetts communities tackle the smart growth challenges they face. We support a statewide network of individuals, community-based organizations, nonprofit institutions, municipalities, and businesses with information resources, advocacy tools, and peer-learning opportunities.

On Wednesday, February 3, the Massachusetts Smart Growth Alliance wrote to Governor Charlie Baker, urging him to sign S.9, An Act creating a next-generation roadmap for Massachusetts climate policy.

The bill is identical to legislation sent to the Governor’s office earlier this month, which he returned unsigned. In the letter, MSGA focused on two concerns that Gov. Baker raised: the cost of housing production and the need for Environmental Justice provisions.
