"For many women, just walking down the street can mean being subject to harassment by men—from subtle comments to overtly hostile remarks. Back in 2012, fed up with such treatment, Tatyana Fazlalizadeh, an oil painter by trade, decided to speak out: She produced an illustrated self-portrait with a caption—"Stop Telling Women To Smile"—and plastered copies all around her Brooklyn neighborhood. Since then, Fazlalizadeh has created countless posters, literally taking to the street to combat sexist harassment. Each piece features a different woman, with a caption that reflects her own experiences with public harassment. With $35,000 raised on Kickstarter, Fazlalizadeh has now taken her project, named after that first caption, on the road."

Brooklyn oil painter Tatyana Fazlalizadeh got fed up with dudes invading her space. So she started telling them so—very publicly.

"Sarita Nadkarni, an Emerson junior, said the university was unhelpful when she struggled in class after reporting her sexual assault. She ended up on academic probation, at risk of losing her scholarship money and potentially being suspended."

Another student at Emerson College in Boston has come forward and added her name to a federal complaint claiming the private institution failed to adequately respond after she was sexually assaulted at school.

Here is the interview featuring Emerson College student and complainant Jillian Doherty with WBUR 90.9 FM. The conversation is a more broader view of colleges mishandling sexual assaults and not taking the initiative to instill the Clery Act and Title IX policies. Jillian also speaks about Emerson specifically and responds to President Lee Pelton's email.

What are your thoughts on the matter? What is YOUR response to President Lee Pelton's email? Feel free to comment below, but we do ask that responses are respectful and intellectual.

"Administrators have long been employing such toxic measures, which are detrimental to survivors and, by their own assumptions, protective of the school's reputation. By now, they ought to realize covering up sexual violence serves no one, except perhaps the perpetrators."

Widespread dialogue surrounding sexual assault and r**e on college campuses has quieted down since last year. But the troubling frequency with which administrators mishandle such cases keeps bubbling to the forefront.
