Ambit Energy was founded in early 2006 at a Potbelly’s restaurant in Addison, Texas, USA over a couple of turkey sandwiches. Introduced through a mutual friend, Jere Thompson, Jr. and Chris Chambless met for lunch to discuss energy deregulation. They liked the opportunity, and they liked each other. During lunch, they made a few important decisions: to build "the finest and m
ost respected retail energy company in America," provide affordable electricity and gas, and to "never sacrifice integrity for growth." In 2008, Ambit recorded revenues of almost $200 million and nearly $325 million in 2009. In 2010 the biggest achievement was being named "America’s Fastest-Growing Private Company" by Inc. magazine, which placed Ambit on top ( #1) of the publication’s renowned "Inc. 500" list. This year (2015), Ambit made the Inc. 5000 list for the sixth consecutive year. Ambit delivers energy services in these 17 states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Virginia, and Washingotn D.C. The company is a member of the Direct Selling Association (DSA). Once you’re an Ambit customer and are saving money, you can save even more. In fact, you can all but eliminate your Ambit Energy payment every month when you refer enough customers to use Ambit Energy's service. When you refer a minimum of 15 paying customers, you’ll receive credit toward your Ambit Energy bill equal to the average amount of your referred customers' payments.
