Ronald Reagan Tax Party

Ronald Reagan Tax Party NO NEW TAXES; just bring back the old ones! (But, of course, taxes were higher under Reagan/Bush.

The Ronald Reagan Tax Party

Recognizing that:

• President Obama and the current Congress have established tax rates that are far from the Reagan/Bush era -- we should get back to Reagan era rates at the very least;
• the Tea Party, while evoking the name of Ronald Reagan and Taxes, has FAILED to roll back tax rates to levels approved by Reagan/Bush;

Be it resolved that we form the Ronald

Reagan Tax Party, with the pledge to:

• Roll back taxes to the levels established during the Reagan/Bush revolution (of course, adjusting the income brackets for inflation so nobody overpays).
• Consider a short-term war tax to pay for the wars we are waging in Asia (which will expire upon receipt of revenues that equal the costs of the wars, occupation and reconstruction).
• Cut the number of Federal employees to less than the levels during the Reagan Administration (even though the US population has grown 25% since that time, we must have an even leaner government).
• To cut government spending (as a percent of GDP) to Reagan/Bush era levels, with a goal 1% of GDP less than Reagan/Bush era rates, after the conclusion of the Wars and Recession;
• To eliminate the grandiose retirement plan everyone has heard Congress enjoys, and replace it with something substantially similar to what regular Federal employees receive. The number of federal employees is about the same as the Reagan era. Congress has no grandiose retirement plan - that is web fiction.)

US Constitution, 14th Amendment, Section 4.
The validity of the public debt of the United States... shall not be questioned.

The Tea Party questions the public debt and may well block Treasury's ability to pay Congress' bills. First rule for Congress when tightening it's purse strings - ensure they are not wrapped around America's neck.

When Congress fails to negotiate a budget, they pass a ‘continuing resolution’ -- they agree to simply spend what they spent last year. Perhaps a tweak here to stop funding to an expired program, or a bit more there to address an emerging issue. But overall, same-same.

This year, the House GOP sent the Senate a continuing resolution. Tweak-tweak, same-same. Well, except, they cut out a huge chunk. Oh, and they change a law they couldn't get enough votes to change by normal democracy. But otherwise same-same.

This is how one makes a continuing resolution into continuing constipation.

Much is made about the intentions of the Founding Fathers by the right, but were they not the liberal elite?

South Carolina's Sen. Jim DeMint said he’s “tired” of President Barack Obama’s speeches and "payroll tax cuts,” DeMint said. “I just don’t think those things are going to create jobs.”
So when do tax cuts create jobs?

This isn't serious, but spot on reality.

WASHINGTON—With a massive wildfire currently raging out of control in his district, Tea Party Caucus member Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) pressed Congress to pass immediate tax breaks Tuesday to combat the rapidly spreading blaze.

Just in case anyone missed this. Some say Warren Buffett knows something about money.

We mega-rich should not continue to get extraordinary tax breaks while most Americans struggle to make ends meet.

Isn't it appalling that Congressmen make more than Rush Limbaugh? Of course, there are 435 of them ... and its not a lot more.

No more Muammar; RR must be proud of President Obama's handling of the situation.
