The Massachusetts Senate has acted to support the dignity of people who are deaf or hard of hearing by making sure that state laws use accurate and respectful terminology. An Act relative to removing the term hearing impaired from the general laws—takes up a recommendation from the National Association of the Deaf, which has raised awareness around the negative connotations of the phrase ‘hearing impaired.’ Read more at https://ow.ly/obHR50ZfZ6X

Yesterday the Massachusetts Legislature passed a bill to protect firefighters and tradespeople from conditions that took the lives of Boston Fire Lieutenant Edward Walsh and Firefighter Michael Kennedy in 2014.
