The Post attended the service of Private Kwack K. Woo last Friday. After 79 years, Private Woo's remains were recovered and identified coming home to reunite with his family. It was an honor to be part of the service and to witness the unity of our veteran community, where they come as far as New York City (Lt. B.R. Kimlau Chinese Memorial Post 1291) and Seattle (Cathay Post 186 - Seattle, WA) to give our salute to a fallen hero who made the ultimate sacrifice. We remember and honor you, Private Woo.

"In February 1945, Woo was assigned to Company E, 2nd Battalion, 318th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division. His regiment was engaged in fierce fighting near the town of Biesdorf, Germany, when he was reported killed in action by small arms fire on Feb. 9. His body was unable to be recovered due to intense fighting against heavily reinforced German forces on an elevated position. Despite various recovery attempts, Woo’s remains were not accounted for during or after the war."
According to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency website, there are 81,173 still missing and unaccounted for from World War II, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, and the Gulf Wars/other conflicts. We hope and pray that one day that each of our heroes will be founded and accounted for and they will be able to reunite with their families.
