A huge congratulations to our Gender, Leadership, and Public Policy (GLPP) students who received awards at the McCormack Graduate School Graduation Awards!

Our very own GLPP graduates took home awards including the Emerging Leader Award, Community Leadership Award, and Academic Excellence Award. We know they will go on and continue to make meaningful change in their careers.

"...abortion bans have influenced how doctors and hospitals respond to pregnancy complications. Facing risks of prison time and professional ruin, doctors have delayed key interventions until they can document that a fetus’ heart is no longer beating or that a case meets a narrow legal exception. Some physicians say their colleagues are discharging or transferring pregnant patients instead of taking responsibility for their care."

The two women died during miscarriages. The state’s medical board has ruled that substandard care led to their deaths.

Nina Liang was the first and only Chinese American City Councilor elected in Quincy, where she served as the first minority City Council President from 2020-2022. Raised in Quincy by immigrant parents, Nina’s experiences as a small business owner, community organizer, and elected official have driven her commitment to inclusive governance and addressing the needs of diverse communities. She previously served as Executive Director of Emerge Massachusetts, training Democratic self-identified women to run for office, and under her leadership, the organization saw significant growth and historic electoral success. Now serving as the inaugural Associate Director of Government Relations at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Nina continues to leverage her political experience to support vulnerable communities and ensure they succeed both during and after their time at the university.
