Basant represented Egypt 🇪🇬 at Women2Women in 2016 and is now a Medical Doctor and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Southern California, studying how vascular health contributes to dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Alongside her research, Basant founded Women2Women-Egypt in 2024, creating opportunities for girls ages 15–19 to develop leadership skills and learn about entrepreneurship, human rights, and health. She has also supported neuroscience education through her work with Arabs in Neuroscience.

We’re proud to recognize Basant’s contributions to medical research and her commitment to expanding opportunities for young women as one of our 20For20 Alumnae Leaders. Congratulations, Basant!

Meet Andrea of Mexico 🇲🇽, whose Women2Women journey began in 2017 and who returned as a summer staff member in 2018, sharing her enthusiasm and leadership with the next class of young women!

From W2W to the national stage, Andrea has reached remarkable milestones in public service. After serving in Mexico’s Chamber of Deputies, she was elected to the Senate representing Chihuahua in 2024 at just 27, becoming the youngest member of the incoming Senate.

Her journey is a powerful reminder that young women belong in the rooms where decisions are made—and that their voices can help shape the future.

Meet Alice of Cape Verde 🇨🇻, whose Women2Women journey began in 2013 and continued through more than a decade as a staff member, supporting and inspiring new generations of young women!

A Smith College graduate with a degree in neuroscience, Alice celebrated her graduation joined on stage by her daughter—a beautiful moment honoring her accomplishments and the next generation.

Reflecting on her W2W experience, Alice shared:
“W2W has impacted my life in so many ways. This conference opened my eyes to the inequality and injustice women face worldwide. For example, how different shades of violence against women can leave physical and emotional scars.”

As Head of External Affairs for the W2W Alumnae Program, a host on our podcast, and Senior Creator Strategy & Projects Manager at Zalando, Alex brings creativity, expertise, and an unforgettable energy to everything she does.

With experience spanning the music and fashion industries, Alex brings a fresh perspective to W2W while helping our global community stay connected. From Boston to Ottawa and wherever we go next, she helps make every program feel like W2W. It simply wouldn’t be the same without her! 💙

Meet Adeodata of Belgium, a PhD Fellow (Research Foundation Flanders) at the University of Antwerp, who participated in Women2Women in 2022 and returned as summer staff in 2025!

After W2W, Adeodata continued developing her action plan, turning her vision into Diversity for Law Students (DLS). The initiative supports students navigating barriers in higher education, particularly first- and second-generation immigrants, through skill-building workshops, professional connections, and a supportive community.

In 2023, her project won the Koningin Mathilde competition, securing funding to bring DLS to life. Through this work, Adeodata is helping fellow students access the support and opportunities they need to thrive.

Reflecting on her W2W experience, Adeodata shared:
“Women2Women has had a lasting impact on my personal and professional journey, and I am grateful to be part of such an inspiring global community. It is my pleasure to participate in this celebration.”

Celebrating 20 Years of W2W: Introducing Our 20 for 20 Alumnae Honorees

For 20 years, W2W has brought together women from around the world to lead, connect, and create change. To mark this milestone, we’re honoring 20 remarkable alumnae who embody everything this program stands for.

Over the past year, we invited our global W2W network to nominate alumnae who have gone above and beyond: women who have built communities that lift up other women, who continue to champion equity, and who are driving positive change in their countries.

The response was inspiring, and today, in honor of International Day of the Girl, we are proud to celebrate and recognize our W2W 20 for 20 Alumnae Honorees!
These women remind us that leadership isn’t just a title. It’s the work of opening doors, sharing power, and building a better future together.
