A limited number of seats are still available for Council 93’s next Steward Training Class. The free, one-day training will be held at the Bellingham Public Library in Bellingham, MA. The class runs from 9:30 am – 4:00 pm. Lunch will be provided. Pre-registration is required so AFSCME members interested in attending the training are encouraged to call Eileen Reilly at 413-732-5122 or 1-800-332-0362. Attendees should bring a copy of their local contract to the class. We are holding a steward training at Middlesex Community College for all interested AFSCME members. It will be at Henderson Hall, Room 116, Middlesex CC, Bedford, MA on Saturday December 3 from 9AM until 2PM. Topics include rights of stewards, Weingarten Rights, Duty of Fair Representation, and Grievance Processing. Great news! We have a tentative agreement for a first contract! Membership meetings are being scheduled to review the contract with everyone and a ratification vote is being scheduled. Stay tuned for more details....

The bargaining session scheduled for September 15 has been cancelled. Unfortunately, the lead negotiator for management's team has a family emergency. We are scheduling a labor-management meeting at Shirley medium to discuss and resolve issues at that site. We need at least two nurses to participate.
