If you have money, crime is legal in the United States. Taylor Farms, the source of the deadly cyclosporiasis outbreak, donated millions of dollars to Trump and other Republicans. These dollars help to delay federal rules for tracking contaminants in food; and government inspection of Taylor Farms plants has been lax. The timing and quantity of money ensures that you will not be able to convince an impartial jury that big money donations were not the root of the illness and deaths. But there will be no jury, no trial, and no accountability, thanks to the corruption occurring in public view.
It’s half a century past time for a solid campaign finance reform amendment to be added to our constitution. We have the power to create it if we learn how:
