NECAT at the State House!

NECAT hosted a special program at the State House to highlight our plans to expand workforce training and purchase a permanent home in Nubian Square.

NECAT founder Maarten Hemsley was joined by Rep. Moran, Rep. Worrell, Senator Nick Collins and NECAT Board Member Reverend Dr. Dana Gonsal. Special thanks to NECAT alumnus Kayin for speaking about his journey through the program.

NECAT was proud to celebrate the Jacques Pépin Foundation’s 9th Anniversary! JPF has been an incredible partner over the years -- from their first visit in 2018, when they purchased a washing machine to ensure our students had clean uniforms, to helping launch our baking program and grow our catering social enterprise. They always show up for NECAT when it matters most. We’re so grateful for this partnership and the entire JPF community 💛

All NECAT alumni are invited to come to Job Club at the NECAT Career Center on 4/27 to print copies of resume, register for the job fair, view and/or apply to jobs and get support from the Career Services Team.

Congratulations, Cohort 75!🎉🎓

Since opening its doors in 2014, NECAT has graduated more than 100 cohorts across all of its programs, and this graduation marks the 75th graduation of the flagship day program. Cohort 75 truly embodied the spirit of NECAT, demonstrating teamwork, dedication, and a genuine joy for cooking. We are so proud of their hard work and welcome them into the NECAT Alumni Network.

Congratulations on a well-executed capstone, Cohort 75!

Led by Culinary Director Chris Faison, Cohort 75 delivered a six-course lunch that was a delight to both the eyes and the palate. The first course was a spin on Vietnamese spring rolls, followed by a crunchy bite of Oaxaca-style beef mole. The mains were as creative as they were delectable: citrus-marinated chicken and tamarind BBQ-glazed crispy duck. Dessert was a trio of Lebanese semolina tart, baklava, and a citrus cinnamon ice cream that had everyone wanting the recipe.
