With the beautiful weather today, we decided to take advantage of the nice day and get our members out around the district. We spent some time driving around the district, looking at different structures and discussing how we would approach and size up buildings during an emergency. It was a great opportunity to get some hands-on discussion in, familiarize our members with the area, and talk through different scenarios before we ever have to face them on a call.

Of course, after some training, you have to have a little fun! We took the guys out for some ice cream at Charlap’s to keep morale high and enjoy some time together as a fire family.

While we were there, a very generous woman surprised us by paying for our ice cream. We cannot thank her enough for her kindness and generosity! Acts like this truly mean a lot to our members and remind us how fortunate we are to have such a supportive community behind us.

We love being able to give back to our community just as much as our community gives back to us. Whether it’s responding to calls, helping our neighbors, training together, stopping at lemonade stands, or simply getting out and talking with the people we serve, we’re proud to be your local volunteer fire company.

Patchin got a nice surprise today of some old gear from one of our old members families! This is George (Mickey) Wendling’s gear from about 40-50 years ago! So cool to see old gear in such good condition and how much the gear we wear has changed over the years! Thank you to the family for bringing this gem back to us!

Last night, members of Patchin Fire Company responded as mutual aid to a structure fire on Supervisor Ave in Colden.

We’re always proud to work alongside our neighboring departments when the call for assistance comes. Mutual aid is a huge part of the fire service, and having multiple departments come together allows us to bring additional manpower, equipment, and resources to the scene when they’re needed most.

Thank you to all of the firefighters who left their families, homes, and plans to answer the call. We also appreciate the crews who remained available to cover our communities while departments were committed to the incident.

The race has begun!

Today is the 17 ANNUAL Brinkerhoff memorial 5/10k in the town of Boston. Traffic will be heavily effected on Boston state road and the surround side streets till approximately noon. Expect delays, this happens every year. Thanks in advance for your patience.

Big shoutout to one of our new members Jason! He’s been going above and beyond putting in extra training on his own, working with captains and chiefs, and showing up for two drill days every week. That kind of dedication and drive doesn’t go unnoticed. Keep up the great work, Jason — proud to have you in the company!

🚧 Major Road Work Notice from Erie County DPW 🚧

Please be advised that beginning June 15, Boston State Road (CR-227) between Zimmerman Road and Mill Street will be reduced to a single lane for milling and overlay work.

The project is expected to continue through July 3, or until work is complete. The work will be performed by the Erie County Department of Public Works – Hamburg Maintenance Barn.

Please use caution in the area, expect possible delays, and plan travel accordingly. Thank you for your patience while these improvements are being made!

First Monday of the month is always a meeting however, we had to take advantage of the nice weather with our resident rescue tech. A bit of low angle and some confidence training before the meeting yesterday. We also approved the purchase of a force entry training door to use on rainy days and live burns 👀.
