Patchin Fire Company responded mutual aid to Boston, Volunteer Fire Dept. - NY for a working garage fire with a crew of 5. Patchin operated on scene for approximately 3 hours.

At approximately 1900 hrs yesterday evening, Patchin Fire company along with a mutual aid engine were dispatched for smoke in the area in the 8100 block of Cole road. Patchin 9-1 arrived on scene 5 minutes after dispatch and observed smoke coming from the eaves and rear of the structure, confirming a working fire. Patchin truck 6 and engine 3 responded along with numerous mutual aid companies. The fire was brought under control in approximately 80 minutes with extensive overhaul needing to be done. Due to the heavy fire load and warm temperatures outside, extra crews from around the area were brought in to assist with extinguishment and overhaul. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Thank you to those that responded to scene as well as those who stood by at our stations. Strong work by all on a tough fire.

This morning Patchin fire’s burn building was used by Boston Fire which of course means joint training. Joined by the Boston jr firefighters (not included in live fire) and instructors from Mortons Corners, Colden EMS, Boston and Patchin a live fire training was conducted. Fog machines, hay and pallets were used to simulate fire conditions and better prepare firefighters for real conditions. If you are interested in becoming a firefighter feel free to reach out.

Today we honor those that have paid the ultimate price for our country. Starting this morning with our neighbors in Colden and West Falls, and ending in the town of Boston. We give the upmost respect for the fallen and their families.

Tomorrow Morning May 17th @ 9:00am - approximately 1:00pm there will be a town wide emergency services training. There will be detours on Backcreek road from Homestead Road to Zimmerman Road. There will be a large presence of multiple agencies and is not a real event, just training so don’t be alarmed. Also please try to avoid the area while we work. We Thank you for your patience and understanding while we gain valuable skills to better serve the community should a large event take place.

Monday night for Patchin firefighters is the normal drill night. Although members will take it upon themselves to arrange drills together on their own time to improve their skills and become that much more of an asset to the community we serve. This exemplifies the dedication our members have to the community and always striving to be better firefighters. If you ever see us out at the hall or around town feel free to swing by!
