We address this mismatch by investing in training and education that help people get better jobs. It could be people who are already working who need additional skills, people who are unemployed, or youth looking to enter in the workforce. In the last 5 years, we’ve worked with more than 30,000 youth and adults.

📢 New Funding Opportunity: RECAST Planning Grants

Commonwealth Corporation is accepting applications for the new Re-Entry Career Alignment and Sector Training (RECAST) program!

RECAST aims to expand career opportunities for people impacted by incarceration by building pathways to higher-paying jobs. This first round of funding will support organizations in developing sector-aligned training programs, strengthening employer partnerships, and laying the groundwork for future implementation.

Ryan began participating in re-entry programming with Project Place while serving time at the Suffolk County House of Correction. He was ready to find a new way of life and figure out the way forward.

Through the Re-Entry Workforce Development Demonstration Program, administered by Commonwealth Corporation, Project Place helps people like Ryan prepare for employment and build stability as they return to their communities.

Before his release, Ryan began Project Place’s Dream Program, where he gained life skills he didn’t have before. “The Dream Program challenged me to think different, to see different, to be different.”

After his release, he continued to show up at Project Place. Through the Spark Program, he built a foundation for his new life, then participated in the Work Ready Program to gain resume, interview, and job search skills.

Today, Ryan is working as a dishwasher at Cactus Club Cafe in Boston. “Having this job means more to me than just getting a paycheck. For me, it represents stability, responsibility, and a fresh start.”

His story continues thanks to his hard work and the support he has found at Project Place. And he’s hopeful for what comes next.

Commonwealth Corporation is pleased to announce the FY27 Request for Proposals for the Senator Kenneth J. Donnelly Workforce Success Grants, funded through the Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund (WCTF).

The grants support employer-responsive training partnerships that help unemployed and underemployed Massachusetts residents build skills, overcome barriers to employment, and connect to job opportunities.
