Workforce development creates pathways to opportunity, strengthens businesses, and helps communities thrive.

Commonwealth Corporation is hiring for three key roles:

• Senior Workforce Pathways Specialist
• Workforce Pathways Specialist
• Director of Financial Operations

The Workforce Pathways Specialist will connect young people involved with the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services to training, apprenticeships, credentials, and employment opportunities.

The Senior Workforce Pathways Specialist will support that same work while taking on added leadership, team coordination, strategy, and statewide reporting responsibilities.

The Director of Financial Operations will lead critical financial functions, including budgeting, compliance, fiscal monitoring, contracts, and procurement, helping ensure that public resources are managed responsibly in support of CommCorp’s mission.

All three positions are full-time and hybrid, with comprehensive benefits and a generous employer retirement contribution.

Workforce development is about more than training. It is about creating pathways to meaningful careers, helping employers meet critical hiring needs, and building stronger local economies.

We are proud to join the MassHire Berkshire Workforce Board in celebrating the newest nursing assistant graduates at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center: Ryan, Avianna, Kristina, Ryan, Brittney, Cashmere, Noah, Prosper, and Ava!

Supported through CommCorp’s Healthcare and Behavioral Health HUB Grants, this regional partnership brings together MassHire Berkshire Workforce Board, MassHire Berkshire Career Center, Berkshire Health Systems, Kimball Farms, and local training partners to address critical healthcare workforce shortages.

More than 324 participants have been trained through this collaborative effort, helping new talent gain valuable skills and credentials while strengthening the pipeline of professionals delivering essential care across the Berkshires.

A newly released report examines the barriers shaping employment for Massachusetts youth and young adults, including early work experience, changing entry-level opportunities, and persistent disparities across communities.

Published by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development’s Department of Economic Research, the report explores how structural, demographic, and regional factors influence labor force participation and employment outcomes.

It also highlights Commonwealth Corporation’s YouthWorks, which provides paid work experiences, career readiness training and sector-based skills development for young people.

The findings offer important insight into Massachusetts’ changing youth labor market and the strategies needed to help young people build skills, gain experience, and access meaningful career pathways.

Congratulations to these 7 newly trained Certified Nursing Assistants! 🎉

These graduates completed their training with support from our Healthcare HUBs grant program and through a collaboration with MassHire Berkshire Career Center, Berkshire Health Systems, Berkshire Community College, and the MassHire Berkshire Workforce Board.

Healthcare and social assistance remain among the largest and most vital job sectors in Berkshire County. We’re proud to support the development of hands-on training programs that meet the growing demand for skilled nursing assistants.
