CPO Filardi was one of 12 Boston-area cadets who were hand-picked for a once-in-a-lifetime underway opportunity aboard the ship as it traveled to Boston from its home port in Virginia. CPO Filardi was pinned by his Sea Cadet Commanding Officer and Whidbey Island's Command Master Chief. He then gave his family and his entire Sea Cadet unit a tour of the ship he had just completed duty on! BZ Chief!
