🌳🌸On August 27, a cherry tree planting ceremony was held at the Official Residence of Consul General Takahashi to celebrate the 250th anniversary since the founding of the United States and to express hopes for the continued strengthening of the friendship between Japan and the United States. We are honored to have distinguished guests from various fields including Dr. William (Ned) Friedman Ned Friedman, Arnold Arboretum , Director of the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University; Mr. 梅野星歩 , CEO of Umebachien Co., Ltd. in Kyoto; Dr. Yoko Kawai, Lecturer at the Yale School of Architecture; Mr. Takaya Kurimoto, Landscape Architect; and Mr. Shin Abe and Mrs. Maho Abe, Co-Founders of ZEN Associates, Inc. .

The planting of the tree reaffirmed our shared commitment to fostering enduring ties between the two countries.

May this cherry tree grow strong and symbolize the unwavering bond between our two countries for generations to come! 🇯🇵 🇺🇸

🌳🌸 8月27日、髙橋総領事は、米国建国250周年を祝うため、公邸において桜の木の植樹式を執り行いました。この植樹には、ネッド・フリードマン・ハーバード大学アーノルド植物園館長、梅野星歩・株式会社梅鉢園CEO、河井容子イェール大学建築学講師、ランドスケープ建築家の栗本貴哉氏及びZEN Associates共同創業者の阿部紳一郎氏・阿部眞帆氏など各分野の専門家の皆様にごが参加いただきました。
ご参加いただいた皆様とともに、この桜の植樹を通じて、日米両国が未来に向けて永続的なパートナーシップを育んでいくことを祈念しました。

この桜がすくすくと育ち、未来にわたって日米の揺るぎない友情の象徴となることを願っています！

Thank you to Consul General Seiichiro Takahashi from the Office of the Consulate-General of Japan in Boston（在ボストン日本国総領事館） for joining us this morning at our President’s Council, presented by Marsh McLennan Agency.

There are over 200 Japanese companies operating in Massachusetts, employing thousands of Massachusetts residents.

Also joining us this morning was Senator Robyn Kennedy, Rep Amy Mah Sangiolo from Newton, and Chamber Board Chair Charran Fisher

We look forward to continuing our discussions with the Consul General to explore partnerships between Worcester institutions and Japan.

⚾Consul General Takahashi joined the Portland Sea Dogs second annual Japan Day on August 23, delivering remarks and throwing the ceremonial first pitch.

The event honored Horace Wilson, a Maine native credited with introducing baseball to Japan, and celebrated the bond of Japan-U.S. exchange through baseball, including the awards ceremony for the Horace Wilson Cup Youth Baseball Tournament.

In his remarks, Consul General Takahashi highlighted baseball’s role in connecting people across borders and welcomed the continued growth of cultural, educational, and sister-state exchanges between Maine and Aomori Prefecture.

This year, Showa Boston Institute also performed Soran Bushi, allowing many visitors to enjoy the charm of Japanese culture. 🇯🇵🇺🇸

⚾️ 8月23日、髙橋総領事はポートランド・シードッグスが開催した第2回ジャパン・デーに参加し、挨拶および始球式を行いました。

イベントでは、メイン州出身で明治時代に日本へ野球を伝えたホレス・ウィルソン氏の功績を称えるとともに、ホレス・ウィルソン杯少年野球大会の授賞式などを通じて、野球を通じた日米交流の絆を祝いました。

本年は昭和ボストンによるソーラン節も行われ、日本文化の魅力を多くの来場者に楽しんでいただきました。🇯🇵🇺🇸

Joined the Horace Wilson Tournament in Maine on Aug.15! ⚾ Horace Wilson, a Gorham native, brought baseball to Japan in 1873. 150+ years later, this tournament strengthens the Japan-U.S. bond!
