Unintentional drug overdose is one of the leading causes of early death in Boston and disproportionately impacts Black and Latinx communities. This continued two-year decline in opioid-related overdose deaths reflects the effectiveness of Boston’s comprehensive approach to prevention and harm reduction.

Together with our community, healthcare, and service agency partners, we’re offering a full spectrum of care that meets the needs of our neighbors living with substance use disorder.

School Traffic Supervisors play an important role in ensuring students arrive and leave their school safely! This week, Boston Public Health Commission and the Boston Streets Cabinet hosted an appreciation brunch for over 30 Boston School Traffic Supervisors. Together, this group represents 300+ years of experience helping children and families safely navigate busy intersections across the city.

Thank you to our School Traffic Supervisors for showing up every day to support students, families, and Boston’s Safe Routes to School program. 🚸

Happy Pride, Boston! Our teams at Boston Public Health Commission were proud to join Boston Pride for the People’s Parade and Festival this weekend. We marched. We danced. We handed out sexual health and wellness resources and materials.

Most importantly, we joined with communities from across Boston to affirm and support our LGBTQ+ neighbors. Your public health department is here to care for you and your health needs 365 days a year.
