Italian Home for Children is a comprehensive social service agency providing intervention and long term support services to children, adults and families who are struggling with trauma, abuse, mental illness, learning disorders and poverty. Many of the people we serve, ages 3-80, have a long history of seeking help from more typical sources: public schools, pediatricians and primary care doctors, community- based therapists and governmental social service agencies, without any sustainable progress. Italian Home for Children has a proven track record of working with these children, their families and community supports. We are skilled in providing individualized services for each child and family along a continuum designed to produce fundamental changes in skill sets, behavior and coping strategies that last across time. Italian Home for Children is unique in our ability to support a family from crisis through reunification and long term community stabilization. At Italian Home for Children we are striving to create communities where all children, adults and families are embraced and empowered to reach their full potential. There are an estimated quarter of a million children and adults in Massachusetts living with serious mental illness. Currently there are nearly 45,000 children in the care of DCF, receiving care through in home services and out of home placements. To address this growing concern Italian Home for Children has three primary service areas: Residential, Clinical and Educational.
