Last Thursday, MCB staff came together for our All Staff Meeting — a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn, and spend time together as a team.

A special thank you to the The Polus Center for Social and Economic Development, Inc. for joining us and sharing the documentary “Blind in the Baystate.” We truly appreciated the opportunity to experience the film together, and our staff had so many positive things to say about it afterward.

🦯 Register Now! Join MCB for a White Cane Celebration!

The Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB) invites you to celebrate the independence and empowerment represented by the white cane and help raise awareness of the White Cane Law in Massachusetts.

The law requires drivers to identify and yield to pedestrians using a white cane or dog guide at street crossings.

MCB is helping spread the word about a new opportunity for blind and low vision adults in Massachusetts!

Money Without Barriers is a free, six-week online financial education program led by Andrew Babin, CFP®, who is legally blind.

The program will cover:
• The psychology of money
• Budgeting and cash flow
• Navigating SSI, SSDI and Medicaid while working
• Fraud detection and prevention
• Investing, ABLE accounts and long-term planning
• Accessible financial tools and AI

👓Time to get focused people! Its kinda chic and never too early to sign up for the 18th Annual "Focus" on Vision Impairment & Blindness Conference: Meeting the Needs of Individuals with Intellectual Disability and Vision Loss. And registration is now open!

This conference will be held on October 6, 2026 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Four Points Sheraton in Norwood, MA.

Keynote Speaker: Greg R Waldorf, OD, MPH FAAO, Associate Dean for Clinical Programs, MCPHS School of Optometry will discuss "Becoming Vision Detectives: Spotting Eye Problems in Individuals with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities"

And the Universal Access Program will be tabling and presenting on Accessible Recreation Opportunities with DCR!
