Frieda Garcia Children’s Park is a 12,000-square-foot park and playground created for the families of Boston's South End. Designed by Halvorson Design Partnership in consultation with the community, this new urban oasis features custom-designed play equipment and lively art for youth of all ages. It also serves as a significant buffer against the adjacent lanes of the Massachusetts Turnpike. Funde

d by John Hancock Insurance, the park has been donated to the City along with a long-term maintenance endowment. An exuberant two-part mosaic mural by renowned artist Lisa Houck graces the park. The installation, entitled A Friendly Flock Touches Down, takes inspiration from drawings by local children that the artist collaborated with through a series of workshops with the community.
