Homelessness has been rising amongst a specific demographic in recent years. Between 2021 and 2023 there was a 23% increase in the number of infants and toddlers in the United States whose families lacked access to stable .

Housing instability is especially traumatic for young children who are still developing and often unable to care for themselves.

They may experience long-term health and learning challenges. There are many policy changes that could potentially ease the burden on families with young children, such as raising the minimum wage or expanding childcare options.

Some experts argue that these policy changes shouldn’t be necessary, but unfortunately, they are. This is an ongoing problem that requires people willing to work towards getting every child off the streets and into a safe home. It’s up to all of us to advocate on behalf of those who cannot advocate for themselves.

In 2023, nearly 450,000 infants and toddlers in the United States were in families that lacked a stable place to live.

In 2025, Bridge Over Troubled Waters acquired a public health vending machine thanks to funding from the Boston Public Health Commission. It contains Narcan, fentanyl and xylazine testing strips, prophylactics, socks, hand warmers, toiletries, and more. All of these products are free for youth to access.

Initiatives like this are critical to meet the rise of youth homelessness across the nation over the last few years. Health services for homeless youth are becoming more important everyday. These vending machines are part of a larger engagement effort on the part of Bridge to bring hope and help to our vulnerable youth neighbors, and can help let youth know organizations like Bridge are there for them.

We're participating in 2026's The Winter Walk in Boston, a community event that raises awareness and funds to support organizations like ours, working to end homelessness.

Every day in Greater Boston, too many of our neighbors are living in tents, vehicles, or other unsafe conditions. Through compassionate outreach and case support, organizations like ours work to help people reconnect to housing, healthcare, and essential services.

We invite you to join our team for the walk or make a donation to support this important effort.

The Keep Mass Home campaign has collected more than 124,000 signatures for their ballot initiative, a Petition to Protect Tenants by Limiting Rent Increases. This petition, if implemented, would limit annual rent increases in Massachusetts to no more than 5%.

This means that if your rent is $2,000 per month, it can only be increased by $100 per month at most. Not only will it protect renters, it will support small, local landlords by exempting owner-occupied buildings with four tenants or less. The initiative was designed by Massachusetts residents and experts to protect and support our community.

If you want to help support the ballot initiative you can find out more via the link below. The good news is that Keep Mass Home collected enough signatures to warrant a decision from The General Court of the Commonwealth of , and hopefully we’ll see the initiative on the midterm ballot in November. If you are able to, volunteer and vote to pass this initiative, so we can help get people off the streets together.

The Trump Administration's attempts to revoke TPS status for our Haitian neighbors has caused uncertainty and fear, as the future for themselves and their families hangs in the balance.

While the situation plays out at the Federal level, Massachusetts politicians are taking a stand to protect those who fled Haiti for a better future in the US:
