This , we’re highlighting how college credentials can help students with intellectual disability build skills, pursue career goals, and create pathways to meaningful employment.

Meet John! Through the University of Illinois Chicago’s Cooperative Career Experience Program, John discovered his passion for professional sports and landed a job at Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs. After earning Associate of the Month in his first season, John advocated for himself and earned a promotion to the 1914 Club. Now, he’s working toward his goal of becoming an equipment manager in professional sports.

John’s story is one of 12 featured in our Credential Pathway Series, showcasing how students with intellectual disability are using college credentials to build careers aligned with their interests and goals. This , we’re celebrating the value, talent, and potential of people with disabilities and the role college can play in opening doors to employment.

This , we’re highlighting how access to college can help pave the way to meaningful employment for people with intellectual disability 🎓 ➡️ 💼 .

Postsecondary education opens doors to career opportunities, increased earnings, and greater financial independence. Our publication, "From Learning to Earning: The Impact of Postsecondary Education on Employment for Individuals with Intellectual Disability" shares research demonstrating the value of investing in inclusive college opportunities.

📊 The findings speak for themselves:
- 74% of graduates who completed a federally funded TPSID program were engaged in paid employment one year after graduation.
- People with intellectual disability who participated in postsecondary education with vocational rehabilitation support were 2x more likely to be employed.
- These individuals also earned 51% more than those without postsecondary education.

This National Disability Employment Awareness Month, let’s recognize the value and talent of workers with disabilities and continue to expand access to the educational opportunities that support their career goals.
