On August 22, 2026, Joint Air Base Cape Cod hosted the Auxiliary Air Swim Test. Each year, participants in the AuxAir program are required to complete this test at the base or other facilities across the country. The test includes swimming several lengths of the pool in a flight suit and PFD, as well as demonstrating the ability to pull yourself into the single-person life raft used during flights. Pictured is our Flotilla Commander, Noah Lewkowitz, taking part in the test. Courtesy photo Noah Lewkowitz.

The last photo entry for Sail 250 (Boston) is more of a human-interest story. It was a reunion of sorts between an auxiliarist, his wife, and the ship that they were married on. One of our current members, Claudiu Badea, married his wife on the Romanian Tall Ship the Mircea on July 12th., 2009 during the Sail Boston event then. They have the distinction of being the only couple to ever get married aboard that vessel. The Mircea, built in 1938, is the fourth of a series of five sister ships that includes the USCGC Eagle. On the Badea's 17th. wedding anniversary, July 12th., 2026, the couple, with other guest, were treated to a nice, formal reception aboard the Mircea and they had the opportunity to see several people from their wedding and also meet several important Romanian officials. Claudiu's grandfather also was in the Romanian Navy during World War II and served for a time on that ship as well. The Mircea is a part of Auxiliarist Badea's story.

Vincent Ciampa on patrol during the Boston Tall Ships event aboard his facility “Attitude Adjustment.” His crewmates, Rich Gallante, Louise Olsen, and Jackie Nisebett, and himself had a wonderful experience. From various backgrounds, they had a well-balanced crew and worked great together.

Still celebrating Boston's Sail 250 event days after it happened here are some pictures from Auxiliarist George Dyroff. He was on duty with the Auxiliary during some of days when the Canadian Wildfire smoke was present, so his photos reflect that.
