Our Superhero K9 Team, Officer Nicolosi and her K9 Partner Kilo want to remind all of our Facebook Followers and Friends to stay home when they can, practice super social distancing when they canโ€™t stay home and remember that the choices that we make are vital to our Families, Friends and Neighbors.

The Methuen Police Department appreciates all of the masks that are being sewn and donated to our Officers; like the Superhero one worn by Officer Nicolosi in this photo. We appreciate You!

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of retired Methuen Police Department K-9 Dunkin. Dunkin passed away today, May 30, 2015 with her loving Family by her side for her final goodbye. Battling arthritis, Dunkin was also recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, to which she succumbed to this morning.
Dunkin, an eleven year old Dutch Shepherd courageously served the Methuen Police Department from 2007-2014. Her proud handler, 17 year Methuen Police Department Veteran Officer Jeff Torrisi praised Dunkin for her dedication to training and serving the Methuen Community.
Dunkin was an active and proud K-9 who could be seen demonstrating her skills in Safety Day Demos, Methuen Police Department Open House events, and canine competitions. In 2009, Dunkin and Officer Torrisi competed in the PD1โ€™S in Maine. As a result of their Team placing 1st overall, they travelled to Des Moines, Iowa to compete in the National competition. In 2010, Dunkin and Officer Torrisi competed in the New Hampshire PD1โ€™S where Dunkin was awarded โ€œTop Dogโ€ for the region. Throughout her career, Dunkin received multiple trophies for competing, a symbol of her dedication to training and service.
During Methuen Police Open House events, hundreds gathered and patiently waited to see Dunkin show off her skills. She wowed her audience, and fed off of their excited cheers. She brought joy to the children and families who watched her perform and sat proudly for photo opportunities with her handler.
On daily patrol, Dunkin and Officer Torrisi were patrol car partners, a two man team, who helped ensure the safety of each other as well as all of their brother and sister officers working each day. During her career, Dunkin assisted in searching and clearing hundreds of buildings, on the front lines, bravely entering homes, all to ensure officer safety. Dunkin was involved in the searches of numerous vehicles and homes where she was able to sniff out and locate hidden narcotics. She located a house break suspect on Moffet Street, and was able to locate a handgun, co***ne, and ma*****na while clearing a residence on Haverhill Street.
During her short but fulfilling retirement, Dunkin enjoyed rides in the family Jeep, Family time with the Torrisiโ€™s, and playing ball in the back yard.
Dunkin is survived by her beloved partner, Officer Jeff Torrisi and his Family, as well as her Police Family at the Methuen Police Department.
Dunkin, we honor your dedication, service, and loyalty to your partner, your community, and your police department. May you rest in peace. EOW May 30, 2015.

METHUEN โ€” Reiko, a 10-year-old German shepherd, survived a diagnosis of an autoimmune disorder not too long ago. When he returned to the Methuen Police force, he remained the kind of partner Officer Christine Nicolosi wants to have her back.

K-9 Reiko to the rescue!!

Last night, Officer Nicolosi and her partner K-9 Reiko were able to locate and get assistance for a female who was in distress. Platoon 3 officers were sent to Pleasant Valley St. for a report of a female who was in distress. Her friend had called the police to report she was missing, could not locate her and was concerned for her safety. Officer William Kannan, Michael Havey Jr. and Officer Nicolosi searched the area and were able to locate the female a short distance in the woods with the help of K-9 Reiko. Once they located her, she was given first aid and medical assistance by officers on scene.

Great job by Platoon 3, Officer Nicolosi and K-9 Reiko!! I think it is safe to say Rikko got a treat for his hard work when they got home!
