Boston Public Schools celebrates our 2026 valedictorians!

Thirty-three exceptional seniors graduated at the top of their class. We’ll celebrate them each day over the next few weeks, highlighting a little about what makes them so special.

Iman Omar, Dearborn STEM Academy
Having grown up in Boston and spent her K-12 learning years in BPS, Iman was determined to become the valedictorian of her class four years ago when she entered Dearborn STEM Academy. She has achieved that goal after acing her school's coursework and 10-plus college courses. She also has been active on the debate team and completed internships at Mass General Hospital and Brigham and Women’’s Hospital. She'll attend Boston University on a full scholarship with plans to become a physician in the future.

Boston Public Schools celebrates our 2026 valedictorians!

Thirty-three exceptional seniors graduated at the top of their class. We’ll celebrate them each day over the next few weeks, highlighting a little about what makes them so special.

Community Academy of Science and Health: Lara Pires Moniz
Lara gained confidence from overcoming the challenges of leaving her native Cape Verde, learning a new language and adjusting to an unfamiliar culture. This self-belief fueled her pursuit of success, which includes induction into the National Honor Society, a Seal of Biliteracy with Distinction in Portuguese and Cabo Verdean, the POSSE Scholarship, and the Dr. Deborah Cannon P. Wolfe Biennial Scholarship. She will attend Bucknell University on a full scholarship with plans to study accounting.

Attention, Boston Families, our Welcome Centers’ schedule will shift between Monday, June 29 and Friday, July 31.

Only the Roxbury Welcome Center will be open between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays, the Roxbury Welcome Center will be open between noon and 5 p.m.

All Centers will be closed to the public on July 3, 2025.

Thirty-three exceptional seniors graduated at the top of their class. We’ll celebrate them each day over the next few weeks, highlighting a little about what makes them so special.

Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers: Amani Pagan
Amani is another "homegrown" valedictorian who spent the entirety of her K-12 education in BPS. She credits Boston for shaping her perspective and the Kennedy Academy for Health Careers community for supporting her resolve to make a lasting difference in the world. She has channeled this passion into competitive debate and advocacy. She plans to attend Williams College on a full scholarship. She will be the first person in her family to attend college and she hopes to pursue a career in law in order to advocate for others and drive systemic change.

Thirty-three exceptional seniors graduated at the top of their class. We’ll celebrate them each day over the next few weeks, highlighting a little about what makes them so special.

East Boston High School: Arielle Tritto
While mastering East Boston High coursework, Arielle has been active in her school community and beyond. She was a four-year member of the varsity softball team, captaining the squad in her senior year. She also was a member of the Athletic Council and is the President of the National Honor Society. Outside of school, she worked in the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office as well as in multiple childcare facilities in East Boston. She'll attend Boston University on a full scholarship and plans to double major in political science and history on a pre-law track.

Year one of the Wicked Math Initiative bears fruit!

Boston Public Schools celebrates our latest champion math wiz. O'Donnell Elementary School Grade 4 student Haytam El Ayoubi won the Massachusetts Math League State Championship last month after earning the highest score in the competition among Grade 4 students. He will compete in the Math League National Championship on June 13, 2026, at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.

Thirty-three exceptional seniors graduated at the top of their class. We’ll celebrate them each day over the next few weeks, highlighting a little about what makes them so special.

Fenway High School: Miguel Hilario
Miguel represents the opportunity our village presents to students. After moving to Boston from his native Dominican Republic at age 12 and entering BPS, he flourished at Fenway High. In addition to mastering his school's coursework and completing eight college courses, he has been a student docent through Fenway’s Art Ambassador program with the Museum of Fine Arts, involved with Fenway's Fitness Club and a committed Fenbassador student leader. His passions also include STEM, a field in which he was a four-year participant in MITES (MIT Introduction to Technology, Engineering, and Science) and a STEAM Ambassador with The Possible Zone. He plans to attend Boston University on a full scholarship. He will be the first person in his family to attend college.

Excel High School: Ronnie Nguyen
Having spent the entirety of his K-12 education in BPS, Ronnie's consistency and dedication have taken him to the top of his class. Excel High praises him for demonstrating his commitment to learning with humility and a calm focus on every challenge. He plans to attend UMass Boston. He will be the first person in his family to attend college.

Boston Public Schools celebrates our 2026 valedictorians!

Thirty-three exceptional seniors graduated at the top of their class. We’ll celebrate them each day over the next few weeks, highlighting a little about what makes them so special.

Greater Egleston High School: Joshua Taylor
Joshua arrived at Greater Egleston High School in 2025 and immediately stood out as a scholar, athlete and leader. He achieved valedictorian status by applying himself in the classroom, while also continuing to pursue his passions for basketball and physical fitness. He plans to attend either Bunker Hill Community College or Roxbury Community College, with hopes of transferring to Northeastern University to further his education. He will be the first person in his family to attend college.

Henderson K-12 Inclusion School Upper: Alicia Marquezlainez
Not only does Alicia lead the Henderson K-12 Inclusion School Upper community by maintaining the highest of academic standards, she also makes a positive impact outside of the classroom. She has been involved in the school's crochet club, cooking club and Bee Green, an environmental club dedicated to helping students learn about and care for the environment. She also is set to become a proud BPS alumna, who has spent the entirety of her K-12 education in the district. She will attend Boston University on a full scholarship and plans to study math and engineering.
