This video presents an interview recorded on April 16, 2026, featuring Ms. Nicole Willett, Director of Education Programs at the Mars Society. The interview is conducted by Molin Wang, GYP Students’ Board Co-Chair of Global Youth Philanthropy in Boston (2026). In the interview, Mrs. Willett discusses the competition registration timeline and explains that participating students will work in groups with the support of mentors, who will guide them and help keep their projects on track. The competition focuses on creating projects, reports, and studies related to Mars, aerospace science, space missions, and other science topics. Students who are interested in science are warmly welcomed to participate in the competition.

The first project in this playlist is “Geography & Culture,” a collection of short- and long-form videos. Over the course of three weeks, a dedicated team of GYP students completed the first video in the series, titled “GYP Deep Dive | What People Get Wrong About Life in the Sahel.”
For this project, students conducted in-depth research on the Sahel region, planned visuals, recorded a research-based voiceover, and edited the final video. Through this video and the broader Deep Dive series, we aim to raise awareness of humanitarian challenges and offer deeper insight into the lives, cultures, and realities of people in often-misunderstood regions of the world.
