Update from Boswell Ordinance Enforcement:

I have added two residential properties to the ongoing enforcement effort, bringing the total to 54 documented real-estate violations. To date, 17 ordinance violation notices have been typed and served.

Ordinance enforcement by this Town Marshal is carried out in between calls for police service — I am working diligently on each violation while still responding to public-safety needs. I have received communications from several citizens who are working to abate real-estate and vehicle violations — thank you for taking action. Please be aware that every documented violation will be followed through; if abatements are not completed, enforcement actions will continue.

Our goal is to clean up Boswell — not to generate revenue from fines or to needlessly take people to court. Enforcement is about public safety, community appearance, and compliance, and we will work fairly and consistently toward those ends.

Reminder: To file a property complaint, complete a complaint form at Boswell Town Hall. Complainant names are kept confidential. Those forms are essential because ordinance issues are civil matters and rely on documented complaints for enforcement.

Thank you to residents who are cooperating. Our goal remains fair, consistent enforcement to keep Boswell safe make our Town more appealing.

If you're needing help in compliance with Boswell Town Ordinance Wescott Enterprise can help with removal of junk vehicles (Must have title) as well as haul away most any trash, metal, furniture, appliances, etc.

If the vehicle does not run, and or it is unregistered and or is not insured it is considered a junk vehicle. For example, if I find a vehicle that is not registered or expired and there's weeds growing around it, it will be considered a junk vehicle and tagged for removal.

***Removing the orange impound sticker I place on a junk vehicle will not delay this process. I will just place another tag on the vehicle with the original date on it the day the tow truck comes.***

With that said, if you have any intent to become compliant with the town ordinance, I will be happy to have that conversation.

If you work for or run a lawn care business and would like to leave me some business cards at Town Hall, I will be happy to hand those out to citizens wishing to become compliant with the Boswell Town real estate nuisance ordinances.

Update: On 08/04/2026 I reviewed the houses on the south side of Main Street and documented and photographed 26 properties for nuisance junk, nuisance vehicles, and overgrown vegetation. Combined with north side inspections, I have been preparing violation notices for at least 52 total real estate violations and continue tagging additional junk vehicles that are unregistered, uninsured, or non‑functioning.

I have begun serving written warnings on houses I had not previously cited and will continue enforcement actions on violations I began working on prior to this week. That includes issuing fines and preparing cases for small claims court; I will personally appear in court for previously cited properties that have not abated ordinance violations and/or paid assessed fines. I hope citizens comply quickly to avoid fines and court action.

Thank you to those property owners who have already begun cleanup efforts — your cooperation is appreciated. As a reminder, I will be serving written violation notices to property owners over the next few days. My approach remains fair and reasonable: owners will receive clear instructions and time to correct issues, but I will enforce the ordinance to protect public health, safety, and the appearance of our community.

Boswell residents —

I wanted to provide a quick update on our ordinance enforcement efforts. Over the past few days I have photographed and documented 25 real estate violations and tagged 6 vehicles for removal (with 15 day notices) just in the north half of town. I am currently preparing written violation notices to the property owners and will be serving those notices over the next few days.

My goal remains to be fair and reasonable: owners will be given clear instructions and time to correct the issues, but I will also enforce the ordinance to protect public health, safety, and our community’s appearance. To the citizens of Boswell — over the next week I’ll be focusing on enforcement of Ordinance §90.03 (real estate nuisances). This covers pest infestations, environmental/public health hazards, and improper accumulation or disposal of junk, debris, and yard waste. I will be out personally inspecting, documenting, and issuing ordinance violation notices.

These ordinances are an equal priority of this office. We’ve been actively working on current ordinance enforcement while also maintaining regular patrol and law enforcement duties. If you have a complaint about a property, you will be expected to fill out a complaint form at Boswell Town Hall; complainant names will be kept confidential. These complaint forms are vital for enforcement since ordinance issues are civil matters.

My approach will be fair and reasonable: property owners will be notified and given time and clear guidance to correct issues. But I must — and will — enforce the ordinance to protect public health, safety, and the appearance of our community.
