It’s finally happening!! We broke ground last week on the Sammamish River & Waynita Creek Restoration Project.
Construction is expected to start in early September and continue through winter 2027, with plans to reopen the area in early 2028. During construction, the “Back 9” of the Former Wayne Golf Course will be closed to the public - Please follow all posted signs and do not cross the fencing/barriers or enter the project area. You’ll still be able to access the “Front 9” of the former golf course, as well as adjacent Blyth Park.
The project will restore wetlands and floodplain habitat, improve water quality, create better habitat for Chinook salmon, and help restore a healthier, more resilient river system. Learn more: bothellwa.gov/Waynita
Funding for this project provided by: Washington Department of Ecology Streamflow Restoration and Climate Commitment Act (CCA), King County Parks and Flood Control District, Lake Washington/Cedar/Sammamish Watershed (WRIA 8), Salmon Recovery Funding Board, Puget Sound Acquisition and Restoration Fund, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Forterra, Meta, and Swire Coca-Cola USA.
