Please see the news release regarding a death investigation by Boulder City Police. Investigators say this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Scam alert! In this text, note that the violation is for "Failure to Pay Electronic Toll/Toll Evasion"- there are no toll roads in Clark County. The "Immediate Action Required" asks for full payment or appear in court Tuesday. Some people might use the QR code to pay fines, not knowing the funds are going to a scammer. Courts have even turned people away who thought they had an appearance
scheduled. If you are in doubt, call the court of record.

LATERAL POLICE OFFICERS

Our lateral police officer eligibility list is open for all currently employed sworn peace officers (both in-state and out!) with 2 years of employment at a full-service agency (not including academy time)! Some of the perks of the job here include:

-12 hour shifts (alternating 3 and 4 days weekends)

NATIONAL ANIMAL CONTROL WEEK

As we highlight the different parts of our department, we want to share that this week is also National Animal Control week! Our hard-working Animal Control officers work throughout the week to educate, respond to complaints, rescue all types of animals, and manage a no-kill animal shelter that finds homes for an endless number of animals. We appreciate their efforts to keep Boulder City the great city it has been and will always be!

SWEARING IN

Yesterday, we held a swearing-in ceremony for 3 new police officers who have started their field training journey to become solo officers within our department. Each officer had family present to help pin their badge, an emotional tradition every officer completes to transition from recruit to police officer. The badge is “rented” not “owned” and passes down from one police officer to another along its journey. Our officers are reminded of the weight that comes with the badge; honoring those who came before them, maintaining a high level of professionalism while carrying out their duties, and keeping the residents and visitors of our great city safe at all times.

Please officially welcome Officers Waiwaiole, Martin, and Bateman to our family and we wish them well as they complete the remainder of their training journey!

NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK

This week, we recognize our city's hard-working dispatchers, the first first responders, who juggle 911 phone lines, non-emergency phone lines, police dispatching, and fire dispatching, often while working alone. They are the calm voice you hear when you or a loved one is having the worst day of their life and we appreciate their dedication to public safety service.

These dedicated professionals work tirelessly and often do not get the recognition they deserve, and a single week is not nearly enough to praise them for what they do 24/7 for our officers, firefighters, and community.

GRADUATION

After 6 months of challenging training, two Boulder City Police recruits joined over 30 Henderson Police Department recruits in completing the final milestone of their academy training: receiving their badges and taking the oath of office. This marks the official transition from recruit to officer as they prepare to embark on the rest of their field training journey over the next several months. Henderson Police Academy 13 has been HPD's largest academy to date, and we are thankful for the partnership we have with them which allows us to send brand new recruits through a state-of-the-art training program.

Please join us in congratulating Officers Bateman and Martin on their impressive achievement and wish them luck as they work to complete several months of field training where they will use the skills learned in the academy to help and protect those who live in and travel through our great city!

WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING

Once upon a time, there was this guy and this girl who liked to commit crimes. Most of these involve using the identity of others and possessing financial documents not belonging to them. One of the two even had several warrants for their arrest from multiple states for the same kind of charges!

These two decided to make a journey from somewhere they likely committed crimes to another place to commit more crimes and stumbled upon our beautiful little city this past Saturday night. Fortunately for everyone, except those two, our graveyard patrol officers could sense a disturbance in the force... though it also helped that these two "masterminds" were driving a vehicle without any registration which is hard to miss...

Through some amazing investigative work, our officers determined the pair had a lengthy list of issues and properly re-directed them to different accommodations for the night (probably longer, but at least they serve food!). The CliffsNotes version of their charges is:
🤦‍♂️Buy/possess/receive stolen property $25k to $100k
🤦‍♀️Obtain/possess credit/debit cards without consent
🤷‍♂️Possess Schedule I narcotics 14g-28g
🤷‍♀️Own/possess firearm by prohibited person

Our duo did more, but this reminds US to remind YOU not to possess illegal drugs, or stolen fi****ms, or identity and financial documents that belong to people who aren't you, or have warrants for your arrest, OR operate an unregistered vehicle! We don't know why we have to give this reminder, as it SHOULD all be common sense, but here we are!

We are proud of the hard work our officers do to keep Boulder City the safest city in Nevada!

✔ Following the rules = cooler rides
✔ Helmets = are "DAM" awesome
✔ Scooting safe = elite behavior

TRAFFIC TASK FORCE

The weekend is upon us, but that doesn't mean you need to rush to your next destination! Please observe the large black and white rectangles on the side of the road with numbers, and definitely don't try to see how much higher you can go over that... We promise you'll make it to wherever you're going, and a lot more safely if you stick to what the DOT experts say!

Our traffic officers, in conjunction with officers and troopers in the Southern Nevada Traffic Task Force, are out making sure our roadways stay safe and don't turn into an extension of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We know the temperature is in the 90s now (nobody was ready for that!), but that doesn't mean your speedometer needs to match!
