Induction cooking 🧑‍🍳 is the fastest⚡️, most efficient 💸, and safest ⚠️ way to cook your food—and you can try it at home for free! EnergySmart’s induction cooktop lending program lets you check out a portable induction burner to use at home 🏠 , for up to three weeks.

Rather than heating up your pot with flame or hot coils, induction uses magnets 🧲 to heat your pans directly. This means no harmful fumes, no hot burners, and an easy and safe cleanup process in case of any spills or messes.

Sign up today at the 🔗 link in our bio to test out a cooktop yourself, and see how induction technology can work for you and your loved ones. 🍳🍝🥘

Spring is here, and so is some much needed rain and moisture! ☔️

There are lots of ways to promote watershed health just by working with the rain that falls on your property. Slowing the flow of water helps recharge groundwater, improve natural filtration, prevent erosion, and so much more. It’s easy to slow the flow of water down, and there are many different strategies to help you achieve different goals.

Looking to spruce up curb appeal? 🏠 Replace downspouts with rain chains, a highly customizable technology that helps water splash around over a wider area and makes a pleasant, gentle sound during rainfall.

Have a tree, shrub, or other planted area that’s looking a little dry? 🌳 Try diverting your downspouts, and directing the flow right to their root systems.

Growing your own garden this year, or trying to establish some new plants? 🪴 Installing a rain barrel on your property can help draw down your water bill by using naturally occurring rainwater as the source to fill your hose or watering can. In Colorado, each home or small multi-family property (up to 4 units) can install up to 2 55-gallon rain barrels on-site.

Today, Boulder County submitted a letter of strong support for the continuation of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and its critical weather, climate, and air quality research.

Global climate science, all Americans, and the Boulder County community would suffer if the NSF closes NCAR. The center is the leading global hub for vital research including earth systems science, weather forecasting, air quality monitoring, and the development of lifesaving technologies. Locally, NCAR is an economic engine that employs more than 800 people.

The opportunity to submit comment closes today, March 13. We know that sometimes making public comments can feel futile, but studies show that public comment, combined with sustained media attention and testimony from experts, can change outcomes. Your voice matters.

A link to our full letter, and a link for you to send your own comments, is included in the link in bio.

The United States Supreme Court today decided to review last year’s Colorado Supreme Court ruling that allowed the City of Boulder and Boulder County’s climate accountability case to proceed—granting Exxon Mobil and Suncor entities’ petition to hear the case.

The City of Boulder and Boulder County’s case seeks to hold the oil companies responsible for knowingly contributing to climate change while concealing the dangers of their products. In its May ruling last year, the Colorado Supreme Court concluded that “federal law did not preempt Boulder’s claims and that those claims could therefore proceed under state law.” In their petition to the U.S. Supreme Court, the companies claimed that federal law shields them from state-level accountability for in-state harms. The Supreme Court will now consider the companies’ bid for immunity.

“The oil companies have tried every avenue to delay our climate accountability case or move it to an out of state court system,” said Boulder County Commissioner Ashley Stolzmann. “As everyone continues to face rising costs that put budgets under pressure, we must hold oil companies accountable for the significant harm they’ve caused our communities. We move forward with renewed energy and purpose for the next step toward justice.”
