From WJFW-TV 12:
The Vilas County Emergency Management team wants to let you know that county and municipal crews are working to restore your power and clearing the roadways.
The management team wants to share some tips on what you can do in the meantime.
Citizens should know:
That they may be without power for an extended period of time. Utilities are reporting that complete restoration of Vilas County could take up until Sunday night.
For refrigerated and frozen food safety during a power outage, keep the refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible to maintain the cold temperature.
The refrigerator will keep food safely cold for about 4 hours if it is unopened; a full freezer will hold the temperature for approximately 48 hours (24 hours if it is half full) if the door remains closed.
Once the power is restored, if you are unsure about an item, the safest course is to throw it away.
Citizens should do:
If citizens need a place to go to warm up, charge their cell phones or help with other unmet emergent needs, the Vilas County Communications Center has a list of resources available. For help locating resources, please call the Communications Center at (715) 479-4441.
The Communications Center cannot get your power turned back on and does not have specific estimated times for power restoration other than Sunday night. For assistance with power issues, please call your utility company direct or 9-1-1 if there is an emergency.
Customers should stay at least 25 feet away from any downed power lines, as they may still be energized. Report downed power lines to Wisconsin Public Service or a local law enforcement agency immediately.

Always operate portable, gasoline-driven generators outdoors away from windows, doors and windows. Operating a generator indoors could lead to a buildup of carbon monoxide, creating a hazardous situation.
Residents should be careful while cleaning up yard of storm debris, as there may be power lines down in the area.
Stay away from downed or sagging power lines, and do not touch anything that is on or near them (i.e., trees or tree limbs, cars, ladders).
Keep children and family pets away from areas where lines may have fallen.
Check on your neighbors, especially seniors or anyone with medical conditions, to make sure they are doing well, but do so safely.
