Fellow Members of CASA,
I'm sure it has been a long, busy year for all of us. As 2018 closes and 2019 begins, we here at CASA think it's time for CASA to step off Facebook once again and start conducting actions to engage the community and represent our ideas.
In the past, among other things, one of our main events(actions) was to set up a table in a centrally located place on Thursdays and offer free food and drinks (Taco's or Grilled Cheese & snacks) to people in need. Through doing this, we realized that the people who stopped by were looking for someone to talk with as much or more as they were looking for something to eat. This gave us the idea to set up some stations (or just walk to somewhere close) and offer 15 minute "counseling" where these individuals can be heard and not judged.
All this would require is keeping a schedule and having 10-20 committed individuals willing to take on this duty 2-3 hours a week.
Is this something that you, as a CASA member, are interested in?? If so, we can set up a meeting one night in the next few weeks to further discuss.
Another activity that would be enjoyable for networking would be a pottery/art night. I have a kiln and clay is very inexpensive. Depending on how many people are interested, my garage could work as a venue.
