Ever wonder how wildflowers respond to forest management? 🌼🌲Join the NoCo Fireshed this weekend (8/1) for a guided hike through a treated forest in U.S. Forest Service-Arapaho & Roosevelt Natl Forests Pawnee Natl Grassland. As you explore an area treated with thinning and prescribed fire, you'll learn how wildflowers respond to forest management and why these treatments are essential for healthy, resilient forests.

Wildfire preparedness starts with community. This past Saturday, we joined neighbors and partner organizations at Wildfire Awareness Day at Chipeta Park in Nederland. It was a wonderful opportunity to answer questions, share practical tips, and make wildfire information easy to understand and accessible to everyone who stopped by.

We were also joined by Smokey Bear, who was without question the highlight of the event! Everyone wanted to meet him and take a photo with him. He was truly the star of the day.

Thank you to Wildfire Partners, Nederland Fire Protection District, Boulder Watershed Collective, Northern Colorado Fireshed Collaborative, Colorado State Forest Service, the U.S. Forest Service, The Ember Alliance, USDA, and everyone who came out to learn how we can help protect our homes, forests, and communities.

🏅Our Sunset Trail Running Festival medal has arrived!

Inspired by the breathtaking landscapes of Gold Hill, Colorado, the medal captures the magic of trail running in the Rocky Mountains. The centrepiece features a runner silhouetted against a stunning mountain sunset, with golden light spilling across rugged peaks, pine forests and historic mining structures that pay homage to Gold Hill’s rich heritage.

The vibrant ribbon is equally impressive, showcasing dramatic canyon walls and alpine scenery in deep purples and fiery oranges that perfectly reflect the colours of a Colorado sunset. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed to evoke adventure, exploration and the sense of accomplishment that comes from conquering mountain trails.

This isn’t just a finisher medal, it’s a keepsake. A piece of art that tells the story of an unforgettable day on the trails and serves as a lasting reminder of the challenge, beauty and spirit of the Sunset Trail Running Festival.

On Sunday June 21st, runners won’t just earn a medal. They’ll earn a symbol of their journey through one of Colorado’s most stunning mountain landscapes. 🌄🏃‍♀️⛰️

Bold. Beautiful. Uniquely Colorado. A medal worthy of every mile.

Hey! We're hosting the Sunset Trail Running Festival on June 21 up in Gold Hill and it’s going to be so much fun! The course is along the Switzerland Trail (popping right now!) and the proceeds go to community scale fire preparedness/mitigation efforts! There’s still time to register to run and we’re still in need of volunteers! If you sign up to volunteer (think aid station support, traffic help, general crowd management), I can share a discount code for runners that accompany you for the day! Reach out for more details! Thanks!
