Coach Hardy Kalisher, Boulder High Boys Soccer, 2005-2025.
"After 20+ years, I am stepping away as head coach of Boulder High Boys Soccer.
This is not about remembering championships. It is about champions. Every student-athlete who stepped into Boulder High Boys Soccer La Familia and embraced what it asks of you became one. Not because of a trophy or a win, but because of who you chose to become. In many ways, high school is about becoming. The journey from the first day of summer training in July of your freshman year to graduating as young men. Who you become and what you do next is the point of the journey. That is what I am most proud of. The season is a moment in time, a team that only happens once. Goals are often achieved, but what is special about goals is who you become along the way.....La Familia is not mine. It never was. The culture you built, the promises you made to each other, the bridge you crossed, the Friday dinners, the early mornings at Recht, the 100 yard post game fan tunnels stretching across the field. That belongs to you. The next group of young men who put on the Boulder jersey will be shaped by what you left behind. To see young men look each other in the eyes and call their teammates their heroes, their role models, and their inspirations gives me belief in our collective future as humanity. Not hope but honest belief.
I've coached and played in enough games and won enough championships to know that they fade into distant memories. What stays is the people. And the people in this program will stay with me the rest of my life.
Thank you for every moment.
Viva La Familia."
