This weekend, candidates from OST Denver had the opportunity to participate in the Annual Colorado Meet hosted by . The annual meet included 5 events and encompassed several NROTC units across the country. This year was the first year that candidates from the PLC and OCC programs competed.
Candidates participated in both a knowledge competition and endurance race. The knowledge competition tested officer candidates and midshipman on their military knowledge. The endurance race (as shown) was a several hour event that encompassed a series of evolutions, starting with a CASEVAC, a land-based team workout, and then transition to a final ruck evolution throughout Chautauqua Park in the city of Boulder. The course covered nearly 10 miles and exceeded 8k Ft above sea level.
What was the most evident throughout the duration of the event was the resolve and morale exhibited by the candidates of OST Denver. Despite the unforgiving terrain, physical challenges, and cold temperatures, they remained positive and continued to motivate each other to the finish.
We couldn’t be prouder of our candidates for leaving it all on the field this weekend!

“The decision to undertake a military career of whatever duration, to accept an officer’s commission, and to take the officer’s oath is particularly weighty. It requires no less than commitment of one’s life to the service of others. In exchange, such service carries with it the benefits and burdens of life as a public official in the world’s most successful democracy and membership in an ancient and honorable calling—the profession of arms.” - The Armed Forces Officer
We are extremely proud of the candidates from OST Denver on their graduation from OCS. Each one of them have been tested to their limits in order to earn the title as a leader of Marines. Today marks the beginning of their journey as Marine Corps Officers and the responsibility they will soon undertake. They will be headed to The Basic School where they will be trained and developed in their duties as a company grade officer in the operating forces.
Please join us in welcoming the Marine Corps’ newest officers, 2Lt Fair, 2Lt Hurley, 2Lt Swanson, and 2Lt Rauch!
