Last Thursday, Leeds First-Year students visited UCHealth Marketing in Denver for a mini career trek—connecting with professionals, learning about the organization, and experiencing a real-world work environment firsthand. On Friday, students volunteered at Community Food Share in Broomfield, sorting potatoes to support families in need while also helping reduce food waste by redirecting excess to local pig farmers. A meaningful couple of days of learning, service, and impact for our Leeds First-Year community.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in organizational communication because I’m fascinated with how the right environments and leadership can make a workplace thrive. In addition to workplace psychology, I love watching movies, going to the gym, and being crafty. I’m a huge foodie but I’m new to the Boulder area, so please send me restaurant recommendations!

Nothing better than serving the community together.
Our Leeds First-Year Experience students spent the day volunteering at Community Food Share in Broomfield — sorting potatoes and packaging pinto beans to help support local families through the food bank.
It was a fun, hands-on way to give back, connect with one another, and make a tangible impact. We’re so grateful for the opportunity to serve and proud of our students for showing up for the community. 🌟

Kick off spring break the right way and climb Royal Arch, one of the most popular hikes from Chautauqua and a Boulder Bucket List classic, where the challenging climb rewards you with a breathtaking view of Boulder framed by the natural rock arch.

Grateful for an incredible evening with our Leeds First-Year Experience students.
We started with a grounding yoga session hosted by Lululemon, creating space to reset, recharge, and connect. Then, Untapped Learning led an engaging executive-functioning workshop on navigating procrastination and building strategies for academic success.
From movement to mindset, this event was all about supporting our students holistically — inside and outside the classroom.
Thank you to Lululemon and Untapped Learning for investing in our and helping them build habits that set them up for long-term success. 🌟

My name is Rylie Ackley (she/her/hers) and I am acting as the Hall Director for Kitt Central and Andrews. I am originally from Centennial, CO but have spent the past eight years in Texas where I received my bachelor’s degree in religion in 2020 and master’s degree in higher education and student affairs in 2022, both from Baylor University. I am passionate about cultivating community and student development in the college experience through learning opportunities and relational development. Outside of work, I enjoy reading a good book, playing board games, snowboarding or hiking, and chasing around my border collie Phoenix!

Leeds first-year students had an incredible day visiting Fidelity Investments for a mini career trek! From learning about Fidelity’s values and workplace culture to exploring internship and career pathways, students got a firsthand look at what makes the company such a great place to grow. A big highlight was hearing from a recent grad who shared why she loves working at Fidelity and encouraged students to start envisioning their own futures there. Huge thanks to the Fidelity team for the warm welcome and for investing your time in our students; we’re so grateful for the partnership!
