All Boulder Rural Fire Rescue crews completed our annual Forcible Entry Gauntlet…a demanding evolution designed to test both physical performance and decision-making under extreme stress.

Personnel were evaluated on:

•Window bar removal
•Through-the-lock entry techniques
•Padlock removal
•K12 operations
•Conventional forcible entry on both inward- and outward-swinging doors

The evolution is timed, and crews intentionally elevate their heart rates before beginning to simulate the physical exhaustion and elevated stress firefighters may experience during an emergency.

The goal is more than speed…it’s maintaining sound judgment, technique, communication, and cognitive function when the body is pushed to its limits. Training like this prepares our crews to perform when conditions are difficult, time matters, and there is no room for hesitation.

Train hard. Think clearly. Perform under pressure.

Incident Summary: At approximately 11:45 p.m. Sunday, Boulder Rural Fire Rescue units EN323 and MED323 were dispatched to a reported building fire.

Upon arrival, crews found a detached outbuilding/shop, a nearly full hay barn, and an exterior pile of approximately 300 hay bales involved in fire.

Crews remained on scene throughout the night and into the following day, conducting extensive overhaul operations and ensuring the fire was fully extinguished.

Boulder Rural Fire Rescue received assistance from Boulder Fire and Mountain View Fire, along with numerous other county resources that responded to the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported, and everyone involved was safely accounted for.

We appreciate the support and coordinated efforts of all the agencies and personnel who assisted during this extended incident.

Our Open House is almost here, and we’re looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, August 29, from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM!
