I have heard from many, that they wanted more details on SB 2001 Tax Restructuring Revisions, which was recently signed by Governor Herbert December 18, 2019. There is currently a Referendum acquiring signatures from voters across the State of Utah in regards to this Legislation. If the required number of signatures is achieved by January 21, 2020, it will then be placed on the ballot for all voting Utah citizens to vote on. I have heard a variety of opinions on this matter, which favor or oppose the Referendum for very specific reasons. The Constitution Party of Utah leadership has not issued any statements in regard to this Legislation.

In an attempt to help every person who is interested in learning more about this legislation, I have gone through the Bill and have written a review of what is being added and/or removed by it. You may notice that some taxes will increase, some will decrease, new taxes will be added, new exemptions will be allowed, some exemptions will expire, and the overall evaluation of the bill is being muddied by all these variables.
