Spring is in full swing! 🌷

Ardmore staff and some of the people we support took a break from their regular routines to enjoy some sunshine and great weather yesterday during our Spring Social.

Together they enjoyed socializing, games, painting, music and dancing, and some even tapped into their culinary side with our resident chef Atiba!

It was a great day of relationship building and strengthening within the Ardmore community.

We had an incredible time at the Washington Nationals game last night, courtesy of their group ticket giveaway program.

This program allowed us to be with the local baseball community as we cheered the Nationals to a win!

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) play a vital role in supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) live active, connected, and meaningful lives within their communities.

DSPs are advocates, mentors, encouragers, and trusted members of each person’s support system. Their work helps build stronger, more inclusive communities every day. This is why they deserve to be compensated adequately for the important and impactful work they do.

Help make this happen by contacting the members of the Prince George's County Council to tell them to support the increase to the DSP Wage Supplement Grant when they vote on the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

Today is and thanks to some cooking lessons from Judith, Atiba has been learning how to make what he wants! 🍳

Judith and Atiba have spent the past few months creating delicious meals and a meaningful bond rooted in a shared passion and sustained through a genuine connection.

Through their time together, Atiba has gained confidence and experience in the kitchen, expanded his community, and increased his independence by learning how to prepare the meals he enjoys most for himself and his family and friends.

Creating connections and community is at the heart of our mission at Ardmore, and stories like this remind us just how impactful those relationships can be.
