The City of Bowie will commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, with a ceremony on September 11 at 9 a.m. at Allen Pond Park (3330 Northview Drive).
The ceremony will honor those who lost their lives, remember the families and survivors impacted, and recognize the first responders and service members who answered the call.
The program will include remarks from City Council and Prince George’s County leaders, an honor guard presentation, and a silent commemorative walk around the pond.

🚨Traffic Advisory 🚨
Due to this morning’s rainstorm, several traffic signals along Collington Rd (MD 197) have been affected. Specifically, the traffic lights are not working at the intersections of Collington Rd (MD 197) and U.S. 301, Mitchellville Rd, and Evergreen Pkwy. The signal at Collington Rd (MD 197) and U.S. Route 50 is flashing. The utility company has been notified and is working to fix the issue.
There is currently no estimated time for when the signals will be restored. Motorists should exercise caution at these locations.

Today, our Chief Preston took part in the annual Negro League Legends Hall of Fame East vs West game held here in Bowie. He showcased his strong left arm during the ceremonial first pitch!
It was a wonderful afternoon spending time with neighbors and honoring some of the game's true baseball legends. Thank you to the organizers for putting on such a fantastic event for our community! 🙌🏾🏟️

As our Bowie students head back to the classroom this week, we need your help to keep everyone safe. Our officers will be conducting extra patrols in school zones over the next few weeks. Please give yourself extra time and remember these quick rules of the road:

🛑 SLOW DOWN: Speed limits drop significantly in school zones. Always watch for the flashing lights.
📱 DROP THE PHONE: Distracted driving laws are strictly enforced, especially around our schools.
🚶‍♂️ WATCH FOR CROSSWALKS: Keep your eyes peeled for children, parents, guardians, and crossing guards.
🚌 STOP FOR BUSES: Red flashing lights and an extended stop arm mean STOP from both directions.
