Bowie Memorial VFW Post 8065 participated in the annual Veterans Day Ceremony on November 11, 2025 hosted by the American Legion Disney-Bell Post 66.
The program was moved from Veterans Park to Bates Hall on the grounds of Ascension Catholic Church because of the cold temps and wind.
Post 8065 Commander Edward Lee Jaenichen and Past Commander Michael Mitchell presented a Wreath on behalf of Bowie Memorial Post 8065.
Disney -Bell AL Post 66 Adjutant Kenneth R. Trass (also a VFW Post 8065 member) was the Master of Cereremony. See the attached photos.

Bowie Memorial VFW Post 8065 participated in the City of Bowie "In Honor of Our Veterans" program held at the Bowie Senior Center on 11/6/2025. Katrina Holmes, Senior Center Manager welcomed all to the Center. Edward "Lee" Jaenichen, Commander of Bowie Memorial Post 8066, led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. The Bowie Senior Chorale sang the National Anthem. Katrina Holmes recognized all Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard veterans in attendance. US Navy veteran Cary Hutton read the POW-MIA Table.
Commander Jaenichen of Post 8065 presented the "Bowie Veteran of the Year Award for 2025" to Kenneth R. Trass, Captain, US Navy, (Ret).
Gloria Gaddy of the Senior Center introduced guest speaker, Mayor of Laurel, MD, Retired US Navy Chief Petty Officer, Keith Snyder, who made closing remarks.
Buddy Poppy "boutonnières" were presented to all veterans by members of Bowie Memorial VFW Post 8065. See attached photos.

VFW Post 8065 participated in the City of Bowie Memorial Day Parade on 05/24/25. Many thanks to the Bogley Girls (Megan Bogley and her 3 Daughters), Lee Jaenichen, Jose Garcia, Keith Hockman, Naomi Carrington-Hockman, Bert Mueck and Paul Connolly, who took time out of their holiday Weekend to represent the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Bowie Memorial Post 8065.

Bowie Memorial VFW Post 8065 held the 2025 Awards program at the DAV Omaha Beach Chapter #7 Home on 02/06/2025. Awards were given to local Students who participated in the Patriot Pen Essay contest and the Voice of Democracy contest. Awards were also given to Teacher of the Year and Law Enforcement/First Responders.
Awards were presented by VFW Posts that are part of VFW District #2. Each post made presentations to local area students, Teachers and Law Engorcement/First Responders from various Departments within VFW District #2.
