Over the weeks since the election, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting, grieving, and finding my footing again.
This one hurt...not because we didn’t give it everything we had, but because we did. We ran the strongest campaign we have ever run. With the support of 20+ unions and advocacy organizations, thousands of doors knocked, an incredible army of volunteers, and so many of you who believed in a different kind of leadership, we came within just a few percentage points of winning.
We faced extraordinary opposition, including hundreds of thousands of dollars in outside spending and misleading attacks. But we didn’t back down. We built a movement.
And I am so proud of what we built together.
This campaign was never just about one election. I’m from this community. I love this community. And I’m not going anywhere.
You’ll still see me in the streets demanding justice, in the halls of power holding elected officials accountable, and alongside the people who believe Prince George’s deserves better.
We may not have won this fight. But we can win the next one...and the one after that, and the one after that. Real change has never come from one election. It comes from people who refuse to stop showing up.
Thank you for showing up with me. Thank you for believing in this movement. And thank you for reminding me that hope is always worth fighting for ❤️
