🐾 Maggie’s story has a happy ending! 🏡💙

Remember Maggie/Roxy, the sweet bulldog we were searching for her owner? We’re excited to share that Maggie has officially found a new home! 🥹🐶

In this video, we’re also breaking down a little bit about what happens when a stray dog comes into our care. Bowie Animal Control is not an adoption facility, and our primary responsibility is to reunite found animals with their owners. Once an animal has completed its required stray hold and becomes the property of the City, we determine the best next step for that animal.

When we’re able to, we work with Bowie CLAW to help find suitable homes for animals rather than having them transported to the shelter. 💙

We aren’t able to do this for every animal that comes through our doors, but when the opportunity is there, we’ll always try to give an animal a chance at a new beginning.

And for Maggie, that opportunity came through. 🥰🏡

We’re so happy this sweet girl gets to start her next chapter!

Magic is missing from the Filbert Lane area and has been missing since yesterday. He was most recently seen on a Ring doorbell camera along Woodhaven Lane.

The Great Goose Chase 🪿 | Part 1

We’ve received multiple calls about an injured goose, so naturally… we went looking for him! 👀🪿

In this video, we’re giving you a little behind-the-scenes look at what happens when we receive reports like this and why wildlife rescues don’t always happen in one quick visit.

We’re concerned that fishing line or other debris may be caught around his legs, which can cause serious injury and interfere with an animal’s ability to move safely.

And before anyone asks, yes… we ARE doing something. 😂 Sometimes helping wildlife takes patience, observation, and multiple attempts. This goose is not exactly cooperating with our plans!

🎣 Please remember to properly dispose of fishing line, hooks, and other fishing equipment. Wildlife can become tangled or injured by discarded line, and what seems harmless to us can be dangerous to them.

We’ll keep you updated as we continue our efforts to safely help this guy.

🐾 FOUND DOG: Meet Maggie! 🐾

We recently found this sweet Bulldog at the dog park in Bowie, and we’re hoping the power of our community can help us get her back home! 🏡💕

We’ve decided to call her Maggie while she’s with us. She is a female Bulldog, believed to be under 3 years old, and unfortunately, she does not have a microchip. We are currently unsure whether she is spayed.

Maggie is an extremely friendly girl who has quickly made herself comfortable with everyone here. ❤️

🐾 FOUND DOG + FOSTER NEEDED! 🐾

We need your help, Bowie! ❤️

This handsome boy was found on Fox Hill Lane and is believed to be approximately 2–4 years old. Unfortunately, he does not have a microchip, and we are currently working to locate his owner.

🏠 FOSTER NEEDED!

While we continue searching for his family, we are looking for a temporary foster home for him. He has an injury that requires medication, and his medication has already been provided and paid for. We just need a safe and caring place for him to recover and receive his medication while we work to reunite him with his owner.

🖤🪶 Meet Vinny the Vulture! 🪶🖤

Officer Miller recently came to the rescue of this handsome young Black Vulture, whom we’ve affectionately named Vinny. 🖤

Vinny was found in the K Section on Wednesday after a concerned resident reported that he had been sitting outside their home for two days without moving. Once Officer Miller was able to safely rescue him, it was clear he needed some extra help. Vinny had suffered a wing injury, so he was transported to Second Chance Wildlife Center in Clarksburg, MD, where he will receive the care he needs before hopefully being released back into the wild. ❤️🩺🪽

Fun fact: This is the first Black Vulture we’ve had the opportunity to assist, making Vinny a very special visitor! It was truly an honor to help give this incredible bird a second chance.

Whether they have fur, feathers, scales, or anything in between, every animal deserves compassion and care. Thank you to the resident who called when they noticed something wasn’t right. Because of you, Vinny has a fighting chance. 🥹🖤

This sweet girl was found Thursday morning on Holiday Lane and is safe while we work to locate her family. ❤️

🐶 Female
📍 Found on Holiday Lane
🩺 Appears to be approximately 3 to 4 years old and is otherwise healthy.
❌ No microchip was found.
🦟 She does have quite a few fleas, but she is in good spirits.

🎉🐾 Happy Update! Max is HOME! 🏡❤️

Thanks to this amazing community, Max’s family came forward and he has been reunited with them! 🥹

During the reunion, we were also able to help get Max up to date on his vaccinations, get him microchipped, and talk with his owners about the importance of pet licensing to help keep him safe if he ever wanders off again.

Thank you to everyone who shared, commented, and helped spread the word. Every share truly makes a difference, and because of your support, Max is back where he belongs. 💙🐶

In the video, Officer Prince accidentally said this sweet boy was neutered. He is NOT neutered. 🐾

This handsome mixed-breed pup was picked up by Officer Prince this morning from Buckingham Park and is now safe with us while we work to find his family. ❤️
