On the morning of July 24th, 2023, the WKU community lost a valued member of our community with the loss of upcoming Senior, Ayanna Morgan. Ayanna was a Pre-Vet student from Savannah, Georgia. Her mother describes her as “Smart, Loving, Fearless, Assertive, Funny and a Goal Getter!” Her favorite memory on the hill was moving in, as her mom says she was excited about “all the possibilities that it would offer.” WKU SGA sends our deepest condolences to Ayanna's family, friends, and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. As an organization whose main priority is being a support system for all members of the WKU family, we linked below a way to give back to Ayanna and her family.

Please join SGA in donating to the GoFundMe organized in Ayanna Morgan's memory. ALL proceeds will be donated to Avanna's family to provide support in any way possible. Ayanna’s mother is currently undergoing cancer treatment, and this would be a great way to give back to our Hilltopper community. There will be a Vigil honoring Ayanna in August, details will be shared soon.

If you or any student you know is in need of counseling or support as a result of this tragedy, please contact the WKU Counseling Center at 270-745-3159.

If you have any information regarding the crime, please contact the Bowling Green Police Department at 270-393-4000.

After two years of being virtual, Kentucky Rally for Higher Education returned back in person this year! WKU SGA sent the largest delegation represented, with 18 of our members attending. We had meetings with Senator David Givens & Representative Kevin Jackson. We got to see firsthand how the legislative process works. Sitting down to voice our opinions and talk with our legislators about bills coming through and ways we can improve higher education for WKU and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

It was a splendid spring day at the Capitol, and we're happy to continue this great tradition!
