It’s extremely dry right now, so please use extra caution with anything that could spark a fire. Avoid unnecessary burning, properly dispose of ci******es, and don’t leave any fire unattended.

The sun has been doing a fine job trying to set Pike County on fire all by itself we don’t need to give it any help.

🇺🇸 LABOR DAY WEEKEND IS HERE! 🚔

Cookouts, family, friends, and an extra day off for some of you… sounds like a pretty good weekend to us.

If you’re looking for something to do, be sure to stop by the city park from 4pm-5pm for Bowling Green Fire Department’s Labor Day event and support our local firefighters! 🚒

And if the September heat gets to you, BGFD may even spray you down to help you cool off.

Just remember… BGPD has spray too. Ours is spicy. 🌶️😂

All jokes aside, enjoy the long weekend, but do it safely. Buckle up, slow down, watch for extra traffic and pedestrians, and if alcohol is part of your plans, make sure a sober ride is too.

Because while we can give you a ride, our vehicles have uncomfortable plastic seats, barred windows, and our ride might come with an overnight stay at the county jail. 🚔

Plan a sober ride. Ours is not the one you want.

💙 September is Su***de Prevention Month

Behind a uniform, across a dinner table, sitting beside you at work, or living just down the street. Someone can be struggling and you may never know it.

This month, the Bowling Green Police Department is asking our community to pay a little closer attention to one another.

Check on your people. Ask twice when someone says they’re fine. Listen without trying to fix everything. And if something doesn’t feel right, don’t be afraid to speak up.

If you are the one struggling, you don’t have to figure out what comes next by yourself.

Call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline anytime, day or night.

And please remember our officers are here, too. You don’t have to be in trouble, and it doesn’t have to be an emergency to reach out to us. Sometimes you may just need someone to show up, listen, help you through the next few minutes, or connect you with the right resources. We will meet you where you are.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911.

Su***de prevention isn’t just about recognizing a crisis. It’s about making sure the people around us know they matter long before they reach one.

As Bowling Green students head into the second week of the 2026–2027 school year, everyone is settling back into the routine and our roadways are a little busier than usual.

Along with school traffic, resurfacing is underway on Champ Clark Drive and sidewalk construction continues along Business 61. Please plan for possible delays and use extra caution around workers, equipment, pedestrians, and changing traffic conditions.

A few reminders as you head out this week:

🚸 Watch for students at crosswalks, bus stops, and along residential streets.

🚌 Stop for school buses displaying flashing red lights and an extended stop arm.

📵 Put the phone down while driving.

🚧 Use caution and follow signs through construction areas.

⏰ Give yourself a few extra minutes during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.

Parents, please remind students to use designated crossings when possible and stay aware of traffic and construction areas while walking or biking.

A little patience goes a long way especially when our kids and roadway crews are counting on us.

Good job Hannibal Police department and Great job Detective Peter’s and K9 Jeff! We are lucky to have these resources in our community and continue to have great working relationships with the jurisdictions around us!

Boyd Drug Trafficking

On July 3, 2026 Hannibal Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Jason A Boyd (age 52 of Wentzville MO). Boyd was arrested for a warrant out of Lincoln County and driving while suspended. Officers located a significant amount of substance believed to be Methamphetamine inside the vehicle. Boyd was transported to the Marion County Jail on a 24-hour hold.

On July 4, 2026 a warrant was issued for Boyd in the 10th Judicial Circuit of Marion County charging Boyd with Trafficking drugs 2nd degree and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Boyd remains in the Marion County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond.

Hannibal Police were assisted by Bowling Green Police Department K-9 during this investigation.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Alert: On Tuesday June 16, 2026 at around 0220 hours, 3 subjects were seen in the 200 blk S. High St. where a 2021 Gray Chrysler Pacifica was stolen, and severely damaged, recovered at the Pike County Fairgrounds. Prior to this incident, around 01:45 am, a vehicle in the 1000 block of W. Locust was entered and several items stolen. If you have information, or noticed these suspects walking in Bowling Green, please contact the Police Department 573-324-3200 or 573-324-6134. Please remember to remove your keys, lock the vehicle and keep valuables out of sight.

UPDATE!!!! In collaboration with the Pike County Sheriff’s office, the Juvenile Office and the help of our amazing community. All three subjects were identified and are currently being processed through the courts and juvenile justice system. Thanks go out to everyone who assisted in this matter.
